Pakistan Army Targets Mosque, Gurudwara, Temple in J&K’s Poonch
In a shocking display of aggression, the Pakistan Army has fired rockets and shells at a mosque, a temple, and a gurudwara in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, causing significant damage and loss of life. The incident has sparked widespread outrage and condemnation, with many calling for an immediate end to the cross-border shelling.
According to reports, the Pakistan Army began firing shells and rockets at the mosque, temple, and gurudwara in the early hours of Thursday morning, following the Indian Army’s Operation Sindoor. The operation, which was launched in response to ceasefire violations by Pakistan, aimed to target and destroy Pakistani military installations and hideouts along the Line of Control (LoC).
Visuals have surfaced online, showing the extent of the damage caused by the Pakistani Army’s aggression. The mosque, which was heavily damaged, appears to have suffered significant structural damage, with walls and roofs collapsing in on themselves. The temple and gurudwara, too, have been left in ruins, with debris and rubble scattered all over the premises.
At least 16 civilians, including women and children, have lost their lives in the shelling and firing by Pakistan since Wednesday. Many more have been injured, with several still trapped under the rubble of their homes and buildings. The death toll is expected to rise as rescue efforts continue.
The Pakistan Army’s actions have been widely condemned by politicians, community leaders, and ordinary citizens. Many have taken to social media to express their outrage and disgust at the targeting of innocent civilians and religious places of worship.
“This is a clear violation of international humanitarian law and a blatant disregard for human life,” said a spokesperson for the Jammu and Kashmir Government. “We demand that Pakistan immediately stop its aggression and respect the ceasefire agreed upon by both nations.”
The Indian Army, too, has condemned the Pakistan Army’s actions, saying that they will continue to retaliate against Pakistani aggression. “We will not tolerate any ceasefire violations or attacks on our soldiers or civilians,” said a spokesperson for the Indian Army. “We will continue to take all necessary measures to protect our borders and our people.”
The incident has also sparked concerns about the safety and security of religious minorities in Jammu and Kashmir. The mosque, temple, and gurudwara that were targeted are all places of worship that have been used by people of different faiths for generations.
“This is a clear attempt by Pakistan to polarize the region and create tensions between different communities,” said a local resident. “We will not be swayed by such tactics. We will continue to live together in peace and harmony, regardless of our religious beliefs.”
The Pakistan Army’s actions have also drawn widespread international condemnation. The United Nations has called for an immediate end to the violence and for both sides to respect the ceasefire. The United States, too, has condemned the Pakistan Army’s actions, saying that they are “deeply concerned” about the situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
As the situation continues to unfold, one thing is clear: the people of Jammu and Kashmir will not be intimidated or divided by Pakistan’s aggression. They will continue to stand together, united in their determination to live in peace and harmony.
