Husband of Indian Woman Found Dead in UAE Sacked as Videos of Abuse Emerge
The tragic case of Athulya, an Indian woman who was found dead in her apartment in Dubai, has taken a shocking turn with the emergence of videos showing her husband, Satheesh, allegedly abusing her. In a swift response, the Dubai-based construction company that employed Satheesh has fired him, citing his “violent and abusive behaviour” as the reason.
On January 22, Athulya’s body was discovered in her apartment in Dubai’s Jumeirah Lake Towers area. The 28-year-old woman was a resident of Kerala, India, and was living in Dubai with her husband, Satheesh, and their two-year-old son.
The incident sparked widespread outrage and concern, with many questioning the circumstances surrounding Athulya’s death. An investigation was launched, and on February 13, the Dubai Police announced that Satheesh had been arrested in connection with his wife’s death.
However, it was only after Satheesh’s arrest that videos allegedly showing him abusing Athulya surfaced online. The videos, which have been widely shared on social media, appear to show Satheesh physically and verbally abusing Athulya on multiple occasions.
In response to the videos, the construction company that employed Satheesh has taken swift action, firing him from his job. According to Gulf News, the company’s senior HR manager said the action was taken based on Satheesh’s “violent and abusive behaviour” shown in the videos.
“We were shocked to see the videos,” the company reportedly said. “We take a zero-tolerance approach to any form of violence or abuse in the workplace, and we have zero tolerance for such behaviour from our employees.”
The company’s decision to fire Satheesh has been widely welcomed, with many calling it a necessary step in holding him accountable for his alleged actions.
Athulya’s family in Kerala has also welcomed the news, saying that they are relieved that Satheesh has been held accountable for his actions.
“We are grateful that the company has taken action against Satheesh,” Athulya’s brother, Praveen, told Gulf News. “We can’t believe that he could do such a thing to his own wife. We hope that justice will be served and that he will be punished for his crimes.”
The case has highlighted the widespread issue of domestic violence in India and abroad, and the need for greater awareness and action to prevent such incidents.
“Domestic violence is a serious issue that affects many women and families around the world,” said a spokesperson for a local women’s rights organization. “It’s essential that we take a stand against such behaviour and support victims of domestic violence. We hope that this case will serve as a wake-up call for all of us to take action to prevent similar incidents in the future.”
As the investigation into Athulya’s death continues, many are calling for greater support for victims of domestic violence and their families. The case has also sparked a wider conversation about the need for greater awareness and education about domestic violence and its impact on individuals and society.
In the meantime, Satheesh remains in police custody, facing charges of murdering his wife. The case is ongoing, and it is expected that further developments will emerge in the coming weeks and months.
