In a remarkable move towards strengthening Delhi’s ICT (Information and Communication Technology) ecosystem, a delegation from PCAIT (Progressive Channels Association of Information Technology), led by its President, Alok Gupta, met Delhi CM, Rekha Gupta, on July 3, 2025. The meeting was a crucial step towards charting a joint roadmap for the growth of Delhi’s ICT sector and revitalizing the iconic Nehru Place, a hub for IT and ITES companies.
The PCAIT delegation comprised industry experts and stakeholders who emphasized the need for a collaborative approach to drive the growth of Delhi’s ICT sector. They highlighted the importance of creating an enabling environment that fosters innovation, entrepreneurship, and competitiveness. The delegation also sought the CM’s support in addressing the pressing issues affecting the ICT industry in Delhi, including inadequate infrastructure, high operational costs, and lack of resources.
During the meeting, PCAIT presented a comprehensive plan to revamp Nehru Place, a hub that has been a symbol of Delhi’s IT and ITES industry for decades. The plan aims to transform Nehru Place into a vibrant and modern IT destination, equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities. PCAIT requested the CM to declare Nehru Place as a Zero Plastic Zone, a move that would not only reduce the environmental impact of the area but also enhance its aesthetic appeal.
The delegation also discussed the need for policy interventions to support the growth of the ICT sector in Delhi. They suggested measures such as simplifying regulatory processes, reducing bureaucracy, and providing tax incentives to encourage investment and entrepreneurship.
The Delhi CM, Rekha Gupta, listened attentively to the delegation’s suggestions and concerns, acknowledging the significant role that the ICT sector plays in Delhi’s economy. She assured the delegation that her government is committed to supporting the growth of the sector and exploring innovative ways to address the challenges faced by the industry.
Rekha Gupta also emphasized the need for public-private partnerships to drive the growth of Delhi’s ICT sector. She suggested that PCAIT and other industry stakeholders work together with the government to identify areas of collaboration and develop joint initiatives that can drive growth and development.
The meeting between PCAIT and the Delhi CM marked a significant milestone in the journey towards strengthening Delhi’s ICT ecosystem. The collaboration between the government and the industry can lead to the development of innovative solutions, job creation, and economic growth.
In conclusion, the meeting between PCAIT and the Delhi CM has paved the way for a new era of cooperation and collaboration between the government and the ICT industry in Delhi. The revamp plan for Nehru Place, if implemented, will not only enhance the area’s aesthetic appeal but also create a modern and sustainable IT destination that showcases Delhi’s commitment to innovation and entrepreneurship.
