PCAIT, Delhi CM Discuss ICT Growth & Nehru Place Revamp Plan
In a remarkable move towards strengthening Delhi’s ICT (Information and Communication Technology) ecosystem, a delegation from PCAIT (Progressive Channels Association of Information Technology), led by its President, Alok Gupta, met Delhi CM, Rekha Gupta, on July 3, 2025. The meeting aimed to discuss a joint roadmap for ICT growth and revamping Nehru Place, one of Delhi’s most prominent IT hubs.
The PCAIT delegation emphasized the need for revitalization of Nehru Place, which has been a hub for IT and ITES companies for decades. The delegation highlighted the area’s potential for growth and development, citing its strategic location, existing infrastructure, and the presence of several major IT parks. However, they also pointed out the need for modernization and upgrading of the area’s infrastructure to keep pace with the rapidly evolving IT landscape.
The delegation requested the Delhi government to consider declaring Nehru Place as a Zero Plastic Zone, with a focus on reducing plastic waste and promoting eco-friendly practices. This move, they argued, would not only benefit the environment but also enhance the overall image of the area and make it more attractive to businesses and investors.
During the meeting, the Delhi CM acknowledged the importance of ICT in driving Delhi’s economic growth and expressed her commitment to supporting the sector. She emphasized the need for collaboration between the government, industry, and academia to develop a robust and sustainable ICT ecosystem.
The Delhi CM also appreciated PCAIT’s efforts in promoting the growth of the ICT sector in Delhi and expressed her willingness to work closely with the association to achieve its goals. She assured the delegation that the Delhi government would consider their requests and work towards revitalizing Nehru Place and promoting eco-friendly practices.
The meeting was a significant step towards strengthening the partnership between PCAIT and the Delhi government. The two parties have agreed to work together to develop a comprehensive roadmap for ICT growth in Delhi, with a focus on promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development.
The PCAIT delegation also discussed several other key issues, including the need for better infrastructure, improved connectivity, and enhanced security measures to support the growth of the ICT sector in Delhi. The Delhi CM assured the delegation that the government would address these concerns and work towards creating a conducive environment for businesses to thrive.
In conclusion, the meeting between PCAIT and the Delhi CM marked an important milestone in the journey towards promoting ICT growth and development in Delhi. The partnership between the two parties has the potential to drive significant economic growth and development in the region, while also promoting sustainable and eco-friendly practices.
As the ICT sector continues to evolve and grow, it is essential that the government, industry, and academia work together to develop a robust and sustainable ecosystem.
