PCAIT, Delhi CM Discuss ICT Growth & Nehru Place Revamp Plan
In a remarkable move towards strengthening Delhi’s ICT (Information and Communication Technology) ecosystem, a delegation from PCAIT (Progressive Channels Association of Information Technology), led by its President, Alok Gupta, met Delhi CM, Rekha Gupta, on July 3, 2025. The meeting aimed to discuss a joint roadmap for the growth of ICT in the national capital and revamp the iconic Nehru Place.
The delegation from PCAIT comprised prominent industry leaders and experts from the IT and ITES sectors. The meeting provided a platform for the stakeholders to share their concerns, ideas, and suggestions with the Delhi government, focusing on the development of ICT in the city.
During the meeting, PCAIT highlighted the need for revitalization of Nehru Place, which is one of the oldest and most prominent IT hubs in Delhi. The association requested the Delhi government to declare Nehru Place as a Zero Plastic Zone, aiming to reduce the plastic waste generated by the vendors and shops in the area. The delegation also emphasized the importance of maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the area, which is a major concern for the IT professionals and visitors to Nehru Place.
PCAIT also emphasized the need for better infrastructure, including improved connectivity, parking facilities, and security measures. The delegation suggested that the government should establish a dedicated IT park or a special zone for the IT industry in Nehru Place, which would provide a boost to the growth of the sector.
The Delhi CM, Rekha Gupta, appreciated the efforts of PCAIT and acknowledged the concerns raised by the association. She assured the delegation that the government is committed to promoting the growth of ICT in the city and will work towards addressing the concerns of the IT industry.
In a statement, Alok Gupta, President of PCAIT, said, “We are pleased to have had the opportunity to meet the Delhi CM and discuss our concerns and suggestions with her. We believe that the revival of Nehru Place is crucial for the growth of the IT industry in Delhi, and we are confident that the government will take necessary steps to address our concerns.”
The meeting between PCAIT and the Delhi CM was a significant step towards strengthening the ICT ecosystem in Delhi. It is expected that the collaboration between the government and the IT industry will lead to the growth of the sector, benefiting both the industry and the city.
