
PCAIT, Delhi CM Discuss ICT Growth & Nehru Place Revamp Plan
In a remarkable move towards strengthening Delhi’s ICT (Information and Communication Technology) ecosystem, a delegation from PCAIT (Progressive Channels Association of Information Technology), led by its President, Alok Gupta, met Delhi CM, Rekha Gupta, on July 3, 2025. The meeting aimed to discuss a joint roadmap for ICT growth and revamp the iconic Nehru Place, a hub for IT and ITes in the national capital.
The PCAIT delegation comprised of prominent members from the IT and ITes sector, including industry experts, entrepreneurs, and professionals. The meeting provided an opportunity for the association to present their vision and suggestions to the Delhi CM for the growth and development of the ICT sector in the city.
During the meeting, PCAIT highlighted the need for revitalization of Nehru Place, which has been a hub for IT and ITes in Delhi for decades. The association requested the Delhi CM to declare Nehru Place as a Zero Plastic Zone, aimed at reducing plastic waste and promoting a cleaner environment. Additionally, PCAIT suggested implementing various initiatives to revamp the area, including improving infrastructure, enhancing security, and promoting sustainable and eco-friendly practices.
The Delhi CM, Rekha Gupta, appreciated the efforts of PCAIT and acknowledged the importance of the ICT sector in Delhi’s economy. She assured the delegation that the government is committed to supporting the growth and development of the sector and will consider the suggestions made by PCAIT for revamping Nehru Place.
The Delhi CM also emphasized the need for a collaborative approach between the government, industry, and stakeholders to achieve the goals of ICT growth and development. She suggested that PCAIT and other industry associations work closely with the government to identify and address the challenges faced by the sector.
The meeting also discussed the need for skill development and training programs to equip the workforce with the latest technologies and skills required for the growth and development of the ICT sector. PCAIT suggested that the government and industry should work together to establish vocational training centers and provide scholarships to students pursuing higher education in ICT-related fields.
The Delhi CM agreed to support the initiative and suggested that the government and industry should work together to establish a consortium to promote skill development and training programs in the ICT sector.
In addition to discussing the ICT growth and Nehru Place revamp plan, the meeting also touched upon other key issues affecting the sector, including taxation, regulatory framework, and infrastructure development. PCAIT suggested that the government should consider simplifying the tax regime and providing tax incentives to encourage investment in the ICT sector.
The Delhi CM agreed to consider the suggestions made by PCAIT and assured that the government will work towards creating a conducive environment for the growth and development of the ICT sector.
The meeting concluded with a sense of optimism and cooperation between PCAIT and the Delhi government. The association believes that the meeting will pave the way for a stronger partnership between the government and the industry, leading to the growth and development of the ICT sector in Delhi.
