
PCAIT, Delhi CM Discuss ICT Growth & Nehru Place Revamp Plan
In a significant step towards bolstering the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) ecosystem in Delhi, a delegation from the Progressive Channels Association of Information Technology (PCAIT), led by its President, Alok Gupta, paid a visit to the Delhi Chief Minister, Rekha Gupta, on July 3, 2025. During the meeting, PCAIT highlighted the need for revitalization of Nehru Place, a prominent IT hub in Delhi, and requested the CM to declare Nehru Place as a Zero Plastic Zone.
The meeting aimed to strengthen the partnership between PCAIT and the Delhi government in promoting the growth of the ICT sector in the national capital. The delegation emphasized the importance of creating a conducive environment for the IT industry to thrive, citing the need for infrastructure development, seamless connectivity, and a favorable business climate.
PCAIT President, Alok Gupta, emphasized the significance of Nehru Place as an iconic IT hub, stating, “Nehru Place is an integral part of Delhi’s IT landscape, and its revitalization is crucial for the growth of the sector. We believe that by transforming Nehru Place into a Zero Plastic Zone, we can not only reduce waste but also make it a model for sustainable development.”
Gupta also highlighted the need for infrastructure development, stressing the importance of high-speed internet connectivity, modernized buildings, and improved parking facilities to attract more businesses and talent to the area. He commended the Delhi government’s efforts in promoting the ICT sector and expressed PCAIT’s willingness to collaborate to achieve the shared goals.
Delhi CM, Rekha Gupta, appreciated PCAIT’s efforts and expressed her government’s commitment to supporting the growth of the ICT sector. She acknowledged the importance of Nehru Place as a hub for IT and ITES companies and assured the delegation that her government would work towards revamping the area to make it more attractive and sustainable.
The meeting also saw discussions on other key initiatives, including the development of a comprehensive IT policy for Delhi, which would aim to create a favorable business environment, promote innovation, and enhance the city’s competitiveness. PCAIT and the Delhi government agreed to work together to develop a joint roadmap for the growth of the ICT sector, focusing on areas such as skill development, entrepreneurship, and research and development.
The Delhi CM also emphasized the need for collaboration between the private sector, academia, and the government to drive innovation and growth in the ICT sector. She encouraged PCAIT to partner with educational institutions and research organizations to develop talent and create new opportunities for start-ups and entrepreneurs.
