PCAIT, Delhi CM discuss ICT growth & Nehru Place revamp plan
In a remarkable move towards strengthening Delhi’s ICT (Information and Communication Technology) ecosystem, a delegation from PCAIT (Progressive Channels Association of Information Technology), led by its President, Alok Gupta, met Delhi CM, Arvind Kejriwal, on July 3, 2025. The meeting aimed to discuss a joint roadmap for ICT growth and revamp the iconic Nehru Place, one of the city’s oldest IT hubs.
The PCAIT delegation highlighted the need for revitalization of Nehru Place, which has been struggling to maintain its sheen in recent years. The association emphasized the importance of transforming the area into a modern, sustainable, and eco-friendly hub that can attract both domestic and international businesses. To achieve this goal, PCAIT requested the Delhi government to declare Nehru Place as a Zero Plastic Zone, a move that would help reduce the area’s environmental footprint and enhance its overall appeal.
During the meeting, the PCAIT delegation also discussed the need for a comprehensive policy framework to support the growth of the ICT sector in Delhi. The association suggested that the government introduce incentives such as tax breaks, subsidies, and infrastructure support to encourage startups, MSMEs, and large corporations to set up shop in the city. This, in turn, would create a thriving ecosystem that attracts talent and drives innovation.
The Delhi CM, while acknowledging the importance of the ICT sector, emphasized the need for a collaborative approach to achieve the desired growth. He assured the PCAIT delegation that the government is committed to creating a conducive environment for businesses to flourish and would work closely with the association to achieve this goal.
The meeting also focused on the need for improving the public infrastructure in Nehru Place, including the development of parking facilities, improving road connectivity, and enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal of the area. PCAIT suggested that the government consider partnering with private companies to develop a world-class IT park that would provide a modern and sustainable workspace for businesses.
The Delhi government has been actively promoting the city as a hub for startups and entrepreneurs, and the meeting with PCAIT reinforced its commitment to achieving this goal. The government has announced several initiatives aimed at supporting startups, including the creation of a dedicated Startup Ecosystem Fund and a Startup India Hub.
The meeting between PCAIT and the Delhi CM has sent a positive signal to the industry, highlighting the government’s willingness to engage with stakeholders and work together to achieve common goals. The success of this meeting depends on the ability of both parties to work collaboratively and implement the agreed-upon initiatives.
In conclusion, the meeting between PCAIT and the Delhi CM has laid the foundation for a stronger ICT ecosystem in Delhi. By revamping Nehru Place and introducing policies that support the growth of the ICT sector, the government can create a thriving hub that attracts businesses, talent, and investment. As the ICT sector continues to evolve, it is essential for the government and industry stakeholders to work together to create an environment that encourages innovation and growth.
