Govt Mandates Safeguards Over Age-Inappropriate Content on OTT
The rise of Over-The-Top (OTT) platforms has revolutionized the way we consume entertainment content. - Restricted: Content that is not suitable for anyone, including adults
In addition to categorizing content, OTT platforms are also required to restrict access to age-inappropriate content by implementing strict parental controls and a viewer verification process. This means that viewers will be required to verify their age before accessing content that is rated U/A, U/A 16+, A, or Restricted. This move is aimed at preventing minors from accessing content that is not suitable for their age group.
Furthermore, the government has also mandated that OTT platforms ensure that no prohibited content is transmitted. This includes content that is violent, explicit, or promotes hatred or violence against any individual or group.
