₹4 lakh/month is less: Mohammad Shami’s wife as she seeks ₹10 lakh monthly maintenance
The high-stakes match between cricketer Mohammad Shami and his estranged wife Hasin Jahan took a dramatic turn recently, with Hasin demanding a significant increase in the monthly maintenance she receives from her husband. The Calcutta High Court had earlier directed Shami to pay ₹4 lakh per month to Hasin and their daughter. However, Hasin has now claimed that this amount is woefully inadequate, considering her husband’s lifestyle and the increasing cost of living.
In an interview with a leading publication, Hasin expressed her dissatisfaction with the court’s decision, stating that ₹4 lakh is “less” for her husband, who has a luxurious lifestyle. She also revealed that the couple had demanded ₹10 lakh per month as alimony seven years ago, but were denied. Now, with the cost of living having increased significantly, Hasin has threatened to take further legal action to secure a higher monthly maintenance.
“We had demanded ₹10 lakh/month seven years ago. Now that the cost of things has also increased, we will go for caveat,” Hasin said in the interview. A caveat is a legal notice that allows the party to take further action in case the opponent fails to comply with the court’s order.
The cricketer’s wife also shared that she has been struggling to meet the expenses of their daughter, who is being raised by her. Hasin claimed that the ₹4 lakh per month is not enough to provide for her daughter’s education, healthcare, and other needs. She also expressed frustration at Shami’s reluctance to pay the agreed-upon amount, citing his lavish lifestyle and alleged lack of financial constraints.
The dispute between Shami and Hasin has been ongoing for several years, with both parties making numerous allegations against each other. In 2018, Hasin had accused Shami of infidelity and filed a domestic violence case against him. Shami denied all the allegations and claimed that Hasin was trying to extort money from him.
The controversy surrounding Shami and Hasin has generated significant media attention in recent years, with many questioning the cricketer’s conduct and the fairness of the court’s decision. Shami’s fans have come to his defense, claiming that he is being unfairly targeted and that Hasin is trying to exploit him financially.
However, Hasin’s supporters have argued that she is fighting for her rights as a mother and a wife, and that Shami has a responsibility to take care of their daughter and provide for her needs. They have also questioned the cricketer’s lifestyle, pointing out that he has been able to afford luxurious homes, cars, and other luxuries despite his alleged financial constraints.
As the dispute continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how the court will respond to Hasin’s demands for a higher monthly maintenance. Will Shami be forced to increase his payments to his estranged wife, or will he continue to resist the demands? Only time will tell.
