ISRO sets up space laboratory in Arunachal’s Mechuka govt school
In a bid to promote space science and technology among students in the remote corners of the country, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and Muskaan Foundation have set up a state-of-the-art space laboratory at Mechuka Government Higher Secondary School in Arunachal Pradesh. The laboratory, named ‘Pasang Wangchuk Sona ISRO Space Laboratory’, is a testament to the efforts of the two organizations to reach out to students in underserved regions and provide them with hands-on experience in space science and technology.
Located in the West Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh, Mechuka is a small town surrounded by lush green forests and towering mountains. The region is known for its stunning natural beauty and rich cultural heritage, but it lacks basic amenities and infrastructure. The setting up of the space laboratory in Mechuka Government Higher Secondary School is a significant step towards bridging the gap between this remote region and the rest of the country.
The Pasang Wangchuk Sona ISRO Space Laboratory is a fully equipped facility that offers students a unique opportunity to learn about space science and technology. The laboratory is equipped with advanced equipment and software that enable students to conduct experiments and simulations, and get a feel of what it’s like to be a space scientist.
According to an official from ISRO, the laboratory aims to provide students with hands-on experience in space science and technology. “The laboratory is designed to give students a feel of what it’s like to be a space scientist,” said the official. “We want to inspire young minds to pursue careers in space science and technology, and this laboratory is a step in that direction.”
The laboratory is named in honor of Education Minister Pasang Dorjee Sona’s father, Pasang Wangchuk Sona. The minister was instrumental in facilitating the setting up of the laboratory and is a strong advocate for promoting education and science in the region.
The setting up of the Pasang Wangchuk Sona ISRO Space Laboratory is a significant development for the region, which has limited access to quality education and infrastructure. The laboratory will not only provide students with a unique learning experience but also help to bridge the gap between the region and the rest of the country.
ISRO and Muskaan Foundation have collaborated to set up the laboratory, with ISRO providing the equipment and expertise, and Muskaan Foundation providing the infrastructure and support. The laboratory is expected to benefit not only students of Mechuka Government Higher Secondary School but also students from nearby schools and colleges.
In a statement, Dr. S. Somnath, Secretary, Department of Space, said, “The setting up of the Pasang Wangchuk Sona ISRO Space Laboratory is a significant step towards promoting space science and technology in the region. We are committed to reaching out to students in underserved regions and providing them with quality education and infrastructure.”
The Pasang Wangchuk Sona ISRO Space Laboratory is a testament to the commitment of ISRO and Muskaan Foundation to promoting education and science in the region. It is a shining example of what can be achieved when organizations come together to make a difference in the lives of students.
