When AAP Ruled, Their Only Task Was to Cry & Complain: BJP’s Sirsa
The recent completion of 100 days in office by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has sparked a fresh round of political barbs between the ruling AAP and the opposition BJP. In a recent statement, BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa, a well-known face in Delhi politics, launched a scathing attack on the previous AAP government, accusing it of persistently “crying and complaining” both when it was in power and now in the opposition.
Sirsa’s remarks came as a response to the AAP’s criticism of the current Delhi government’s handling of various issues, including power, water, and education. The AAP, under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal, had been the ruling party in Delhi from 2013 to 2022, when it was defeated by the BJP in the Assembly elections. Since then, the party has been in the opposition, constantly criticizing the BJP government.
Sirsa, however, is not impressed with the AAP’s antics. In a statement, he said, “When AAP was in power, their only task was to cry and complain. Even now, in opposition, their only task is to cry and complain. They seize every chance to shed tears.” The BJP leader’s remark is a reflection of the growing rift between the two parties, with Sirsa accusing the AAP of being more interested in scoring political points than in addressing the real issues affecting the people of Delhi.
The AAP, on the other hand, has accused the BJP government of failing to deliver on its promises, particularly with regard to implementing the Budget and improving the overall governance in the city. AAP leaders have been vocal in their criticism of the current government’s handling of issues such as power and water shortages, and the lack of progress on key infrastructure projects.
Sirsa’s statement, however, has not gone down well with the AAP, which has accused the BJP leader of trying to divert attention from the government’s failures. AAP leader Raghav Chadha, in a statement, said, “BJP’s Manjinder Singh Sirsa is trying to cover up the failures of his government by making baseless allegations against the AAP. The people of Delhi are aware of the BJP’s failures and will not be swayed by such petty politics.”
The rivalry between the BJP and AAP is not new, and both parties have been engaged in a bitter struggle for power in Delhi for several years now. The AAP, led by Arvind Kejriwal, had made a significant impact in Delhi politics with its aggressive anti-corruption campaign and its promise to provide a corruption-free government. However, since coming to power, the party has faced several challenges, including allegations of corruption and mismanagement.
The BJP, on the other hand, has been trying to regain its lost ground in Delhi, where it had been a dominant force for several years before the AAP’s rise to power. The party had been hoping to capitalize on the AAP’s failures and win back the support of the people of Delhi. However, the AAP’s continued presence in the opposition and its ability to mobilize its supporters has made it difficult for the BJP to make significant gains.
In the end, Sirsa’s statement is a reflection of the deep-seated rivalry between the two parties, with both sides engaged in a war of words and allegations. While the AAP accuses the BJP of failing to deliver on its promises, Sirsa accuses the AAP of being more interested in crying and complaining than in addressing the real issues affecting the people of Delhi. As the political battle in Delhi continues, it remains to be seen which party will emerge victorious in the end.
