
Sukhu Presides Over State-Level I-Day Celebration in Mandi
The 79th Independence Day was celebrated across Himachal Pradesh with great enthusiasm and fervor. The state-level function was held at Sarkaghat in Mandi district, where Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu hoisted the National Flag, inspected the parade, and took the salute from various contingents, including Police, Home Guards, ITBP, NCC, and others, despite heavy rainfall.
The celebration was marked by a series of events, including the traditional flag-hoisting ceremony, which was followed by a grand parade showcasing the cultural heritage and martial spirit of the state. The parade featured contingents of the Himachal Pradesh Police, Home Guards, Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), National Cadet Corps (NCC), and others.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Suman Sukhu, arrived at the venue amidst tight security arrangements. He was received by the local MLA, Suresh Kashyap, and other dignitaries. The Chief Minister was accompanied by his Cabinet colleagues, including Education Minister Govind Singh Thakur, Health Minister Prakash Chaudhary, and others.
The Chief Minister hoisted the National Flag at 9:00 am, amidst applause and cheers from the gathering. The parade began soon after, showcasing the martial spirit and cultural heritage of the state. The contingents marched to the tune of patriotic songs and slogans, exuding a sense of pride and patriotism.
The parade was followed by the inspection of the contingents by the Chief Minister. He took the salute from the contingents, including the Police, Home Guards, ITBP, NCC, and others. The Chief Minister also awarded the medals to the winners of the parade.
In his address, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu emphasized the importance of commemorating the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters for the freedom of the country. He praised the bravery and sacrifice of the freedom fighters, who fought against colonial rule to give the country its independence.
