Only India saying Pak is behind Pahalgam attack, says Congress’ MS Aiyar; BJP responds
The recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, has sent shockwaves across the country, with the Indian government vowing to take stern action against those responsible. However, a recent statement by Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar has sparked controversy, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) hitting back at the Congress leader.
Aiyar, while speaking to the media, stated that India is the only country claiming that Pakistan is behind the Pahalgam attack, but no one is willing to believe it. This statement has been met with strong condemnation from the BJP, with party leader Shehzad Poonawalla slamming Aiyar for allegedly defending Pakistan and demeaning the Indian armed forces.
For those who may not be aware, the Pahalgam attack occurred on October 11, when a group of terrorists launched a grenade attack on a bus carrying tourists, injuring several people. The attack was claimed by the TRF (The Resistance Front), an offshoot of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
The TRF has been responsible for several attacks in the region in recent months, and the Indian government has repeatedly accused Pakistan of supporting and sponsoring the group. In fact, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has also raised concerns over the TRF’s role in the Pahalgam attack, with UNSC sanctions committee members stating that the group’s actions are supported by Pakistan-based entities.
Despite this, Aiyar’s statement has sparked controversy, with Poonawalla accusing the Congress leader of being disingenuous and attempting to downplay the role of Pakistan in the attack. “It’s unfortunate that the Congress is defending Pakistan and demeaning our armed forces,” Poonawalla said in a statement.
The BJP leader also pointed out that the Indian government has repeatedly provided evidence of Pakistan’s involvement in terrorist activities in the region, including the Pahalgam attack. “We have evidence of Pakistan’s involvement in the Pahalgam attack, and we will not let the Congress or anyone else distort the truth,” Poonawalla said.
Aiyar’s statement has also been criticized by other political leaders and experts, who have pointed out that the Congress leader’s comments are not only inaccurate but also misleading. “The Congress leader’s statement is an attempt to whitewash Pakistan’s role in the attack and undermine the Indian government’s efforts to combat terrorism,” said a top government official.
The Pahalgam attack has once again highlighted the need for sustained pressure on Pakistan to stop supporting and sponsoring terrorist groups operating in the region. The Indian government has repeatedly emphasized the need for Pakistan to take concrete action against terrorist groups, and has also sought international support to combat terrorism in the region.
In conclusion, while Aiyar’s statement may have sparked controversy, it is clear that the Indian government and the majority of the country are united in their resolve to combat terrorism and hold Pakistan accountable for its actions. The Pahalgam attack is a stark reminder of the need for sustained vigilance and cooperation to ensure the security and stability of the region.
