K’taka CM & Dy CM directly responsible for stampede: LoP R Ashoka
On a tragic Sunday, 11 people lost their lives in a stampede that occurred outside Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium, leaving the city in shock and grief. As the investigation into the incident is underway, the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Karnataka, R Ashoka, has squarely pinpointed Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar as being directly responsible for the tragic event.
In a strongly worded statement, Ashoka demanded a Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by a High Court judge to probe the incident, emphasizing that justice must be delivered for the deceased and those responsible must be held accountable. “CM Siddaramaiah, Deputy CM DK Shivakumar, are directly responsible for the stampede,” Ashoka declared. “They should have taken preventive measures to ensure the safety of the people. But they failed, and now we are left with this tragic loss of life.”
The LoP’s assertion is based on the fact that the stadium was packed to capacity for a cricket match, despite several warnings from the police and other authorities about the potential risks of overcrowding. Ashoka pointed out that the administration had been aware of the possibility of a stampede, yet they chose to ignore it. “The CM and Deputy CM have been warned about the potential dangers of overcrowding, but they have failed to take any concrete measures to prevent the tragedy,” he said.
Ashoka’s remarks have sparked a heated debate in the state, with many questioning the government’s handling of the situation. The opposition party has long been critical of the government’s policies and decisions, and this latest incident has only added fuel to the fire.
The stampede occurred when the gates of the stadium were opened, allowing a large number of people to rush in at the same time. The chaos that ensued was catastrophic, with people trampling over each other in a desperate bid to escape the crush. The incident has left many families mourning the loss of their loved ones, and the city is reeling from the shock of the tragedy.
The government has come under severe criticism for its handling of the situation, with many accusing it of being complacent and lacking a sense of urgency. The police have launched an investigation into the incident, but many are calling for a more comprehensive probe to uncover the truth behind the tragedy.
In his statement, Ashoka also demanded that the government take immediate action to prevent such incidents from happening in the future. “The government must take concrete measures to ensure the safety and security of the people,” he said. “This includes increasing the capacity of the stadium, improving the crowd management system, and providing adequate medical facilities in case of an emergency.”
The LoP’s demands have been echoed by many in the city, who are calling for justice for the victims and their families. As the investigation continues, it remains to be seen whether the government will take concrete action to address the concerns raised by Ashoka and others.
