K’taka CM & Dy CM directly responsible for stampede: LoP R Ashoka
In the wake of the tragic stampede that occurred outside Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium, killing 11 people, Leader of Opposition (LoP) R Ashoka has squarely blamed Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar for the incident. Ashoka demanded a Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by a High Court judge to probe the incident and deliver justice to the victims.
The stampede occurred on May 29, 2020, when a large crowd of people gathered outside the stadium to watch a cricket match between the Indian and Australian teams. The situation turned chaotic as people tried to rush towards the gates, resulting in a stampede that claimed the lives of 11 people and left many others injured.
Ashoka, who is also the BJP’s state spokesperson, accused the state government of being responsible for the tragedy. “CM Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar are directly responsible for the stampede,” he said in a statement. “They are responsible for the security and maintenance of public places, but they have failed miserably in this regard.”
Ashoka pointed out that the stadium was not equipped with adequate infrastructure to handle such large crowds, and that the police and other authorities were not prepared to deal with the situation. “The stadium’s infrastructure is not designed to handle such large crowds, and the authorities were not prepared to deal with the situation,” he said. “This is a clear case of negligence, and the CM and Dy CM are responsible for this tragedy.”
Ashoka also demanded that the state government take immediate action to ensure that such incidents do not recur in the future. “The state government must take immediate action to ensure that such incidents do not recur in the future,” he said. “This includes providing adequate infrastructure and security measures at public places, and ensuring that the police and other authorities are prepared to deal with such situations.”
The BJP leader also urged the state government to provide compensation to the families of the victims and to ensure that those responsible for the tragedy are brought to justice. “The state government must provide compensation to the families of the victims and ensure that those responsible for the tragedy are brought to justice,” he said. “This is the least that the government can do to compensate for its failure to prevent the tragedy.”
The stampede has sparked widespread outrage and condemnation, with many calling for the state government to take immediate action to prevent such incidents in the future. The opposition parties have also demanded a high-level inquiry into the incident and have accused the state government of being responsible for the tragedy.
The incident has also raised questions about the state government’s preparedness to handle large crowds and its ability to provide adequate infrastructure and security measures at public places. The government has come under pressure to provide a detailed explanation of what led to the tragedy and to ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
In the meantime, the state government has announced an inquiry into the incident and has promised to take all necessary steps to prevent such incidents in the future. The opposition parties have, however, demanded a high-level inquiry into the incident and have accused the state government of being responsible for the tragedy.
