J&K’s only AAP MLA Mehraj Malik booked for threatening, abusing woman doctor
In a shocking incident, Jammu and Kashmir’s only Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA, Mehraj Malik, has been booked by the police for allegedly threatening a woman doctor. The doctor, who is working at a government medical college in Doda, accused Malik of making “abusive, gendered, and derogatory remarks” against her online. According to the complainant, Malik threatened to drag her and strip her naked.
The incident has sent shockwaves across the state, with many calling for Malik’s immediate suspension and arrest. The police have registered a case against Malik under sections 354-A (intentional physical contact without the consent of the other person), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The woman doctor, who wishes to remain anonymous, alleged that Malik made the threatening comments against her on social media. She claimed that Malik had been harassing her for some time and had even sent her threatening messages.
“I have been facing harassment from him for some time now. He has been making derogatory remarks against me online and even sent me threatening messages. I have been trying to ignore him, but he has become more aggressive,” the doctor said.
The doctor’s allegations have been corroborated by several other women who claim to have been targeted by Malik on social media. They have come forward to support the doctor and demand action against Malik.
“We are shocked and outraged by the allegations against Malik. He has been using his position to harass and intimidate women. We demand that he is suspended and arrested immediately,” said a local resident.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police have launched an investigation into the matter and have collected evidence from Malik’s social media accounts. The police have also seized his phone and are analyzing the messages and conversations he had with the doctor.
“We have taken the allegations seriously and have registered a case against Malik. We are investigating the matter and will take strict action against him if found guilty,” said a police officer.
The incident has sparked a heated debate on social media, with many calling for Malik’s resignation. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has also been criticized for its silence on the matter.
“The AAP’s silence on the matter is deafening. They have failed to take action against Malik despite the allegations. We demand that they take immediate action against him and ensure that justice is served,” said a local resident.
The incident has also raised questions about the safety and security of women in Jammu and Kashmir. Many have called for greater protection and support for women who are facing harassment and intimidation.
“We need to create a safe and secure environment for women. We need to ensure that they feel protected and supported. The government and the police must take immediate action to prevent such incidents in the future,” said a local resident.
The case against Malik is a stark reminder of the need for greater awareness and sensitivity towards women’s issues. It is also a reminder that no one, regardless of their position or power, is above the law.
