J&K’s Only AAP MLA Mehraj Malik Booked for Threatening, Abusing Woman Doctor
The Jammu and Kashmir Police have booked Mehraj Malik, the only MLA of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the region, for allegedly threatening and abusing a woman doctor in Doda district. The doctor, who works at a government medical college in the area, has accused Malik of making “abusive, gendered and derogatory remarks” against her online.

The police have taken the complaint seriously and have booked Malik under Sections 354, 509, and 506 of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC). The sections relate to outraging the modesty of a woman, using words, gestures or acts intended to insult the modesty of a woman, and criminal intimidation, respectively.
The police have also registered a case under the Information Technology Act, as the alleged harassment took place on social media platforms.
