Jairam says ‘Our MPs are also roaming & Pahalgam terrorists are also roaming’, BJP criticises
In an unexpected remark, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh sparked a controversy by drawing a comparison between Pahalgam terrorists and Indian MPs who are part of the country’s delegation on Operation Sindoor. Ramesh, known for his sharp tongue, made this comment while speaking at a function in Delhi. He said, “Our MPs are also roaming, and terrorists are roaming too.”
Ramesh’s statement has drawn severe criticism from the BJP, which has accused him of making an “atrocious comparison” and undermining not just the military strike (Operation Sindoor) but also the diplomatic efforts of the Indian government.
Operation Sindoor is a military operation carried out by the Indian Army in the Pahalgam region of Jammu and Kashmir, where a large number of terrorists have been neutralized. The operation has been widely praised for its success in dismantling terrorist networks in the region.
Ramesh’s comment, however, has been seen as a shocking and insensitive remark, which has sparked a heated debate on social media and among political circles. Many have condemned Ramesh’s statement, saying that it shows a complete lack of respect for the sacrifices made by the Indian Army.
The BJP has been quick to pounce on Ramesh’s remark, calling it an “unpardonable mistake”. BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said, “Jairam Ramesh makes the most atrocious comparison. This is how Congress undermines not just Military Strike (Operation Sindoor) but also diplomatic strike.”
Ramesh’s statement has also drawn criticism from other political parties, including the Shiv Sena, which has said that his remark is “unbecoming” of a senior leader. Shiv Sena spokesperson Sanjay Raut said, “Ramesh’s statement is unbecoming of a senior leader. He should apologize for his remarks.”
Ramesh’s comment has also sparked a debate on the role of MPs in the country’s delegation on Operation Sindoor. While some have questioned the need for MPs to be part of the delegation, others have defended the move, saying that it is essential to keep the political leadership informed about the military operations.
The controversy surrounding Ramesh’s remark has also raised questions about the role of politicians in commenting on military operations. While politicians have every right to speak on issues of national importance, some have argued that Ramesh’s remark is an example of how politicians are often quick to make controversial statements without considering the consequences.
In the midst of this controversy, the Indian Army has maintained its silence, saying that it is focused on carrying out its operations in the Pahalgam region. The Army has, however, praised the bravery and sacrifice of its personnel who have been involved in the operation.
As the debate rages on, it remains to be seen how Ramesh will respond to the criticism. Will he apologize for his remarks or stand by his statement? Only time will tell.
