For the first time, Centre, State & MCD have a common goal: Delhi CM
In a remarkable shift, the Centre, State, and Municipal Corporation (MCD) in Delhi have finally found common ground, working together towards a shared goal. This unprecedented unity is a result of the double-engine government, which has brought about a positive change in the way these institutions function. In an exclusive interview, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta shared her thoughts on this significant development, highlighting the stark contrast between the past and present.
For the first time, the Centre, State, and MCD are working together with a common goal, as CM Gupta emphasized. “We have realized that Delhi won’t grow until there’s a double-engine government,” she said. This newfound collaboration is a significant departure from the past, where these institutions were often at loggerheads. “Previous governments only focused on fighting… with the Lieutenant Governor, the PM, the administration, courts [and] police,” she added.
The current government’s focus on development and cooperation has led to a significant improvement in the city’s infrastructure and services. CM Gupta highlighted the progress made in Yamuna development, a long-standing issue in Delhi. “We have been working on the Yamuna rejuvenation project, and it’s showing significant results. The river is gaining its lost glory, and we’re seeing a positive impact on the environment and the people,” she said.
Another notable achievement of the government is its efforts to tackle pollution in the city. CM Gupta emphasized the importance of a multi-pronged approach to tackle the issue. “We’re working on reducing pollution through a combination of measures, including the use of cleaner fuels, increasing green cover, and promoting sustainable practices,” she said.
The Delhi CM also touched upon the role of the Centre and the State in addressing the city’s problems. “The Centre has been very supportive of our initiatives, and we’re working closely with them to ensure that our plans are implemented effectively,” she said. “The State government, on the other hand, has been a key partner in our efforts to develop Delhi. We’re working together to address the city’s infrastructure and service needs.”
The AAP government’s efforts have not gone unnoticed, with CM Gupta crediting the party’s commitment to transparency and accountability for the progress made. “Our government has been committed to transparency and accountability, which has helped us to deliver results. We’ve also been able to involve citizens in our decision-making process, which has led to better outcomes,” she said.
The BJP, on the other hand, has been critical of the AAP government’s performance, claiming that it has failed to deliver on its promises. CM Gupta dismissed these claims, saying that the government’s achievements speak for themselves. “We’ve delivered on our promises, and we’re committed to continuing our efforts to develop Delhi. The people of Delhi have seen the positive impact of our government, and we’re confident that they will continue to support us,” she said.
In conclusion, CM Gupta emphasized the importance of unity and cooperation in addressing the city’s challenges. “For the first time, we have a common goal, and we’re working together to achieve it. We’re committed to developing Delhi and making it a better place for its citizens,” she said.
