For the First Time, Centre, State & MCD Have a Common Goal: Delhi CM
In a rare display of unity, the Centre, State, and Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) have come together to work towards a common goal, as stated by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. This marks a significant shift in the way Delhi’s governance has functioned in the past, where petty squabbles and power struggles often took precedence over the well-being of the city and its citizens.
Addressing the press, CM Gupta expressed her optimism about the current situation, stating, “For the first time, there’s a positive vibe where the Centre, State, and municipal corporation are working together with a common goal.” She went on to emphasize that this newfound cooperation is crucial for Delhi’s growth and development, saying, “People have realised that Delhi won’t grow until there’s a double-engine government.”
The “double-engine government” referred to by the CM is a nod to the BJP’s slogan, which emphasizes the importance of a government that is both at the Centre and in the State. In the past, Delhi has often suffered due to the lack of coordination and cooperation between the Centre and the State governments, leading to gridlock and stagnation.
Gupta’s remarks come at a time when Delhi is facing numerous challenges, including air and water pollution, traffic congestion, and poor waste management. However, with the Centre, State, and MCD working together, the CM is hopeful that these issues can be addressed more effectively.
In the past, Delhi’s governance has been marred by infighting and power struggles between different factions. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which has been in power in Delhi since 2015, has often clashed with the Centre over issues such as the Lieutenant Governor’s powers and the functioning of the Delhi government.
