Employment seekers hold mock funeral for Telangana’s job calendar
August 2nd marked the first anniversary of Telangana’s 1st Job Calendar, a initiative touted as a major step forward in fulfilling the Congress government’s employment promises. However, instead of celebrating the milestone, job aspirants from Hyderabad decided to mark the occasion with a mock funeral. The somber event was a testament to their frustration and disappointment over the lack of progress on government job notifications.
The Telangana government had launched the Job Calendar in August 2019, promising to provide employment opportunities to the youth of the state. The initiative aimed to create a platform where government departments and private organizations could post job vacancies, making it easier for job seekers to find employment. The calendar was expected to be a game-changer in the state’s employment scenario, providing a one-stop solution for job aspirants.
However, a year on, the reality on the ground is far from what was promised. Job aspirants claim that little has materialised on the ground, and the job calendar has become a mere paper exercise. The government has failed to keep its promise of providing employment opportunities to the youth, leaving many frustrated and disappointed.
The mock funeral organized by the job aspirants was a poignant reminder of the state of affairs. The event was attended by hundreds of job seekers who came dressed in black, carrying placards and banners that read “RIP Job Calendar” and “Government Betrayal”. The atmosphere was somber, with many expressing their disappointment and frustration over the lack of progress on job notifications.
One of the job aspirants, who attended the event, said, “We were told that the Job Calendar would be a solution to our employment problems. But a year on, we have seen nothing. No job notifications, no employment opportunities. It’s like the government has forgotten about us.”
Another aspirant added, “We have been waiting for months, even years, for job notifications. But the government seems to be dragging its feet. We are tired of false promises and empty assurances. We want to see some action.”
The job aspirants also criticized the government for not providing any support or guidance to those who have been struggling to find employment. Many have been forced to take up low-paying jobs or even resort to begging, just to make ends meet.
The Telangana government has been facing criticism for its handling of the Job Calendar. Many have accused the government of not taking the initiative seriously, and of being more interested in making announcements than in implementing them.
Reacting to the criticism, a government spokesperson said, “The Job Calendar is a major initiative of our government, and we are committed to making it a success. We understand that there have been some delays, but we are working hard to address the issues. We will not let the aspirations of the youth of Telangana go unfulfilled.”
Despite the government’s assurances, the job aspirants remain skeptical. They have been demanding that the government take concrete steps to address their employment concerns, including providing job notifications and creating employment opportunities.
The Telangana government has a lot to answer for in terms of the Job Calendar. A year on, the initiative has failed to deliver on its promises, leaving many job aspirants frustrated and disappointed. The government must take concrete steps to address the issues and provide employment opportunities to the youth of the state.
