BJP Govt in Assam Concerned Only for Power, Money & Land: Gogoi
The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Assam is more concerned with “power, money, land, and syndicates” than with the welfare of the people, according to Assam Congress president-designate Gaurav Gogoi. His comments come in the wake of the recent waterlogging in Guwahati after heavy rains, which has left many residents struggling to cope with the aftermath.
Gogoi made the scathing remarks while speaking to the press about the state of affairs in Assam under the BJP-led government. “The BJP government in Assam is only concerned about power, money, land, and syndicates,” he said. “They don’t care about the people, they don’t care about their welfare, they don’t care about their basic needs. They are only interested in accumulating wealth and power for themselves and their cronies.”
Gogoi’s comments were prompted by the recent waterlogging in Guwahati, which has been attributed to the encroachment of wetlands by BJP ministers. “The BJP ministers care more about roads leading to their own houses than about building proper drainage systems,” Gogoi added. “They are more interested in constructing roads that benefit their own families and friends than in solving the problems of the people.”
The Assam Congress president-designate’s remarks are a stark reminder of the growing discontent among the people of Assam with the BJP government’s handling of the state’s affairs. The government has been accused of being insensitive to the needs of the people and of prioritizing the interests of big business and industry over those of the ordinary citizens.
Gogoi’s comments also come in the wake of several other controversies that have rocked the state in recent months. For example, there have been allegations of large-scale corruption and nepotism within the government, and the state has also seen a surge in violence and unrest, particularly in the Khasi-Jaintia Hills region.
The BJP government in Assam has been in power since 2016, when the party won a landslide victory in the state assembly elections. Since then, the government has been plagued by controversy and criticism, with many accusing it of being ineffective and out of touch with the needs of the people.
Despite these challenges, the BJP government in Assam remains committed to its agenda of economic growth and development. The government has been investing heavily in infrastructure projects, such as roads, bridges, and airports, and has also been promoting industries such as tourism and manufacturing.
However, many critics argue that these efforts have done little to improve the lives of the people of Assam. Instead, they say that the government’s focus on economic growth has come at the expense of social and environmental concerns, and that the state’s natural resources are being exploited for the benefit of big business and industry.
Gogoi’s comments are a reminder that the people of Assam are not fooled by the government’s rhetoric and that they are demanding action to address the real issues facing the state. As the state gears up for the next round of assembly elections, it remains to be seen whether the BJP government will listen to the concerns of the people and make meaningful changes to its approach.
