BJP Councillor Accused of Falsely Claiming Her Home Has Toilet in Gujarat, Probe On
In a shocking turn of events, a BJP councillor from Gujarat has been accused of submitting a forged affidavit stating that she has a functional toilet in her house. The councillor, Amina Sukram Maliwad, is facing allegations from her rival Independent candidate, Leela Garasiya, who claims that the affidavit is a fake.
The controversy has sparked off a probe by the local authorities, with the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) assuring that action will be taken based on the findings. This incident has raised questions about the integrity and transparency of the political process in Gujarat.
According to reports, Leela Garasiya, the Independent candidate, filed a complaint with the Chief Officer, alleging that Amina Sukram Maliwad, the BJP councillor, had submitted a forged affidavit. The affidavit, which was submitted to the Election Commission, claimed that Maliwad had a functional toilet in her house.
However, Garasiya claims that this is a false statement, and that Maliwad does not have a toilet in her house. Garasiya has demanded that the Election Commission take immediate action against Maliwad and cancel her nomination.
The SDM has confirmed that the complaint has been received and a probe is underway. “We have asked the Chief Officer to look into the complaint… Whatever is the conclusion of the probe, action will be initiated,” the SDM said.
This is not the first time that a political candidate has been accused of submitting false documents. In recent years, there have been several instances of political candidates being accused of submitting fake degrees, Aadhaar cards, and other documents to gain an advantage in elections.
The BJP has, however, denied any wrongdoing on the part of Maliwad. “The allegations are baseless and we will cooperate fully with the probe,” a party spokesperson said.
This incident has raised concerns about the lack of transparency and accountability in the political process. Many have questioned how a candidate can submit false documents and get away with it. The incident also highlights the need for stricter laws and regulations to prevent such instances from happening in the future.
The probe into the matter is ongoing, and it remains to be seen what the outcome will be. However, this incident has already sparked off a heated debate about the integrity of the political process in Gujarat.
