Bihar Govt could not give account of ₹80,000 crore: Tejashwi Yadav
The politics of Bihar has been witnessing a wave of controversies and allegations in recent times. The latest development in this regard is the statement made by Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of Opposition in Bihar Legislative Assembly, who has accused the Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government of not being able to give an account of a total of ₹80,000 crore.
Tejashwi Yadav, who is also the son of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, made these allegations during a press conference held on Wednesday. He targeted the Nitish Kumar government, calling it a “double engine” government, where one engine is engaged in crime and the other is busy with corruption.
According to Tejashwi Yadav, the Bihar government has not been able to provide a proper account of the funds allocated for various projects and schemes. He claimed that the government has been embezzling funds meant for the development of the state and using them for personal gains.
“The Nitish Kumar government has not been able to give an account of a total of ₹80,000 crore. This is a huge amount, which is equivalent to the Budget of the state for several years,” Tejashwi Yadav said.
He also alleged that the government has been misusing the funds allocated for various schemes and projects, including the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) and the Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana.
“The government has been using the funds meant for MGNREGA to build roads and other infrastructure projects, which are not even done on time. Similarly, the funds allocated for the Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana are being used to benefit the ruling party leaders and their family members,” Tejashwi Yadav alleged.
Tejashwi Yadav’s allegations have sparked a political row in the state, with the ruling JD(U) and the BJP attacking him and his party. The JD(U) has claimed that Tejashwi Yadav’s allegations are baseless and are an attempt to divert attention from the RJD’s own corruption allegations.
The BJP, on the other hand, has supported the JD(U) and has accused the RJD of trying to create a diversion from its own corruption scandals.
The controversy has also led to a heated debate in the state’s political circles, with many calling for an inquiry into the allegations made by Tejashwi Yadav.
The controversy also comes at a time when the Nitish Kumar government is facing heat over its handling of the COVID-19 pandemic in the state. The state has been one of the worst-affected by the pandemic, with a high number of cases and deaths reported.
The controversy has also raised questions about the transparency and accountability of the government, with many calling for a greater degree of transparency and accountability in the use of public funds.
In conclusion, the allegations made by Tejashwi Yadav against the Nitish Kumar government have sparked a major controversy in Bihar. While the government has denied the allegations, Tejashwi Yadav has stood by his claims, calling for an inquiry into the matter.
The controversy has also highlighted the need for greater transparency and accountability in the use of public funds, and has raised questions about the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic in the state.
