Sonam Made Up Story of Being Kidnapped & Drugged: Meghalaya Police
The investigation into the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi, an Indore-based businessman, has taken a dramatic turn with the East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police (SP) Vivek Syiem rejecting the claims made by Sonam, the prime accused in the case. According to the police, Sonam fabricated a story of being kidnapped and drugged to cover up her involvement in the crime.
Raja Raghuvanshi was found dead on a honeymoon trip to Meghalaya with his wife Sonam, who is now the prime accused in the case. The police investigation revealed that Sonam was having an affair with Raj Kushwaha, the best man at their wedding, and had planned the murder with him.
In a recent development, SP Vivek Syiem has stated that Sonam’s claims of being kidnapped and drugged are baseless and were made to mislead the investigation. “She knew (Raj Kushwaha) is being investigated and would be arrested, so she came up with the story that she was kidnapped and drugged,” Syiem said.
The police have been investigating the case since the body of Raja Raghuvanshi was found on January 25. Initially, Sonam had reported that she and her husband had gone for a trek in the hills and had gotten separated. She claimed that she was kidnapped and drugged, and was made to confess to the crime.
However, the police investigation has revealed that Sonam’s story was full of holes and inconsistencies. The police found that Sonam had planned the murder with Raj Kushwaha, who was also the best man at their wedding. The two had been having an affair, and Sonam had asked Kushwaha to kill her husband so that they could be together.
The police have recovered several pieces of evidence that point to Sonam’s involvement in the crime. They have found a WhatsApp conversation between Sonam and Kushwaha, in which they discuss the murder plan. The police also found a torn piece of cloth near the crime scene, which was later identified as coming from Sonam’s clothes.
The police are yet to recover the murder weapon, but they are confident that they have enough evidence to prove Sonam’s guilt. “We have enough evidence to prove Sonam’s involvement in the crime,” Syiem said. “She knew she was in trouble, and that’s why she came up with the story of being kidnapped and drugged.”
The investigation into the murder is ongoing, and the police are working to recover the murder weapon and other evidence. The police have also arrested Raj Kushwaha and are questioning him in connection with the crime.
The case has sent shockwaves through the country, with many people expressing outrage and disbelief at Sonam’s actions. The police have urged anyone with information about the case to come forward and assist in the investigation.
