The investigation into the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi, an Indore-based businessman, has taken a new turn with Meghalaya Police refuting the claims made by Sonam, the prime accused in the case. According to East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police (SP) Vivek Syiem, Sonam fabricated a story of being kidnapped and drugged to avoid arrest and scrutiny.
Raja Raghuvanshi was found dead on his honeymoon trip to Meghalaya, and Sonam, his wife, was accused of being involved in his murder. The police investigation revealed that Sonam was having an affair with Raj Kushwaha, a friend of Raja’s, who was also a suspect in the case.
The police claimed that Sonam’s story of being kidnapped and drugged was a desperate attempt to avoid being questioned and to create confusion in the investigation. “She knew (Raj Kushwaha) is being investigated and would be arrested, so she came up with the story that she was kidnapped and drugged,” SP Syiem said.
