Sonam Made Up Story of Being Kidnapped & Drugged: Meghalaya Police
The investigation into the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi, a 32-year-old man from Indore, has taken a new turn with the Meghalaya Police rejecting claims made by his wife, Sonam, who is the prime accused in the case. According to the police, Sonam fabricated a story about being kidnapped and drugged to cover up her involvement in the crime.
The case has garnered widespread attention due to the suspicious circumstances surrounding Raja’s death. Sonam had reported that her husband had gone missing during their honeymoon trip to Meghalaya, claiming that she had been kidnapped and drugged by unknown assailants. However, the investigation has revealed that Sonam had been having an affair with Raj Kushwaha, a 35-year-old man from Indore, and that she had planned the murder with him.
East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, Vivek Syiem, revealed that Sonam’s claims were nothing but a fabrication. “She knew (Raj Kushwaha) is being investigated and would be arrested, so she came up with the story that she was kidnapped and drugged,” Syiem said in a statement.
The police investigation has revealed that Sonam and Raja got married in August 2022, but their relationship was troubled due to Sonam’s alleged extramarital affair with Raj Kushwaha. The police believe that Sonam and Kushwaha planned the murder to get rid of Raja and be together.
According to the police, Sonam’s story began to unravel when they found inconsistencies in her statement. “She had given a statement initially that she was kidnapped from a coffee shop, but later she changed her story and said she was kidnapped from the hotel room,” Syiem said. “We also found that she had made several calls to a mobile phone registered in the name of Raj Kushwaha.”
The police also found that Sonam had planned the murder well in advance, using a fake social media profile to gather information about Raja’s whereabouts. They believe that Sonam and Kushwaha had planned to kill Raja during their honeymoon trip, and that Sonam had used her husband’s credit card to book the hotel room and make other arrangements.
The investigation is ongoing, and the police are working to gather evidence to prove Sonam’s involvement in the murder. Syiem has warned that Sonam could face serious consequences for her actions, including a life sentence.
Sonam’s case has raised several questions about the vulnerability of women in relationships and the ease with which they can be manipulated and used for criminal purposes. The case has also highlighted the importance of thorough investigation and the need for law enforcement agencies to be vigilant in uncovering the truth behind seemingly ordinary crimes.
As the investigation continues, the people of Meghalaya are left to wonder how Sonam could have planned and executed such a heinous crime, and what drove her to make up a story about being kidnapped and drugged. The case serves as a reminder that nothing is as it seems, and that the truth can be hidden behind even the most convincing lies.
