Sonam Made Up Story of Being Kidnapped & Drugged: Meghalaya Police
The investigation into the murder of Indore-based businessman Raja Raghuvanshi, who was found dead on a honeymoon trip to Meghalaya, has taken a new turn. East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem has rejected the claims made by Sonam, the prime accused in the case, that she was kidnapped and drugged during the trip. According to Syiem, Sonam fabricated the story to avoid being arrested and to mislead the investigation.
Raja Raghuvanshi was found dead on February 10 at a hotel in Shillong, Meghalaya. The police had launched an investigation, which led them to Sonam, who was traveling with Raghuvanshi on their honeymoon trip. Sonam, who was reportedly having an affair with Raj Kushwaha, a friend of Raghuvanshi, was arrested by the police on February 14.
During the investigation, Sonam claimed that she was kidnapped and drugged by unknown persons, and that Raghuvanshi was murdered by the kidnappers. However, the police have now rejected her claims, stating that the investigation has revealed that Sonam was aware that Raghuvanshi was being investigated and would be arrested, and that she fabricated the story to avoid being arrested and to mislead the investigation.
According to Syiem, the police have gathered evidence that suggests Sonam was involved in the murder of Raghuvanshi. “She knew (Raj Kushwaha) is being investigated and would be arrested, so she came up with the story that she was kidnapped and drugged,” Syiem said. The police have also recovered several incriminating messages and emails exchanged between Sonam and Kushwaha, which suggest that they were involved in a romantic affair.
The police have also revealed that Sonam had planned the trip with Raghuvanshi under the guise of a honeymoon, but in reality, she had planned to meet Kushwaha, who was also supposed to join them on the trip. However, Kushwaha did not turn up, and Sonam allegedly murdered Raghuvanshi and claimed that she was kidnapped and drugged.
The investigation has also revealed that Sonam had planned the murder well in advance. She had booked the hotel room under a fake name, and had also made arrangements for a fake passport and other documents to further her story.
The police have also recovered several physical evidence, including a broken glass bottle, a pair of scissors, and a hair clip, which were found near the crime scene. The police believe that these items were used by Sonam to commit the murder.
The case has sent shockwaves across the country, with many people expressing outrage and disbelief at Sonam’s alleged actions. The police have also come under criticism for not acting quickly enough to prevent the murder.
The police are now investigating Sonam’s alleged affair with Kushwaha, and are also trying to trace his whereabouts. The police believe that Kushwaha may have played a role in the murder, and are trying to gather evidence to prove his involvement.
The case has also raised questions about the safety of tourists in Meghalaya. The state government has promised to take steps to improve the safety and security of tourists, and has also launched an investigation into the alleged lapses on the part of the hotel staff and the police.
The case is being closely monitored by the police, who are determined to bring the perpetrators of the crime to justice. The police are also trying to gather evidence to prove Sonam’s alleged role in the murder, and are working to track down Kushwaha.
As the investigation continues, the police are likely to face many challenges. However, they are determined to get to the bottom of the case and to ensure that justice is served.
