Sonam Made Up Story of Being Kidnapped & Drugged: Meghalaya Police
In a shocking turn of events, the East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, Vivek Syiem, has rejected the claims made by Sonam, the prime accused in the murder of her husband Raja Raghuvanshi on their honeymoon trip. According to the police investigation, Sonam concocted a fabricated story that she was kidnapped and drugged to avoid being arrested and questioned about her husband’s murder.
Raja Raghuvanshi, a 32-year-old businessman from Indore, was found dead on a hilltop in Cherrapunji, Meghalaya, with his throat slit and a few injuries on his body. The investigation revealed that Sonam, who was also from Indore, was having an extramarital affair with Raj Kushwaha, a friend of Raja’s. The police had launched an investigation into the murder after receiving a complaint from Raja’s family.
Sonam, who was initially reported to be missing, claimed that she was kidnapped and drugged by unknown individuals. However, the police investigation revealed that her claims were baseless and fabricated. “She knew (Raj Kushwaha) is being investigated and would be arrested, so she came up with the story that she was kidnapped and drugged,” said Vivek Syiem, the East Khasi Hills SP.
The police investigation found that Sonam had planned the murder with Raj Kushwaha and had even taken out a life insurance policy on her husband. The insurance policy was worth Rs 50 lakh, which would have been the highest payout in case of Raja’s death. The investigation also revealed that Sonam had been having an affair with Raj Kushwaha for several months and had been planning to leave her husband.
The police have recovered several incriminating pieces of evidence, including a WhatsApp chat between Sonam and Raj Kushwaha, which revealed their affair and the murder plan. The police also found a pair of scissors at the crime scene, which they believe was used to slit Raja’s throat.
The investigation has also revealed that Sonam had been planning to marry Raj Kushwaha and had even gone to the extent of taking out a new PAN card in his name. The police believe that Sonam’s motive for the murder was to gain financially from the insurance policy and to be with Raj Kushwaha.
The police have arrested Sonam and Raj Kushwaha in connection with the murder and are currently questioning them. The investigation is ongoing, and the police are gathering more evidence to build a strong case against the accused.
The case highlights the brazenness of some individuals who are willing to go to extreme lengths to achieve their goals. The police investigation has exposed Sonam’s fabricated story, and it is hoped that justice will be served in this case.
In a statement, the police said, “The investigation has revealed that Sonam had planned the murder with Raj Kushwaha and had been having an affair with him. She had taken out a life insurance policy on her husband and had planned to leave him. We have recovered several incriminating pieces of evidence, including a WhatsApp chat between the two, which reveals their affair and the murder plan.”
The case is a stark reminder of the importance of thorough investigation and the need to separate fact from fiction in criminal cases. The police have done a commendable job in exposing Sonam’s fabricated story and bringing the accused to justice.
