The Josh was High: BSF’s Assistant Commandant Recounts Op Sindoor
Operation Sindoor, a daring military operation conducted by the Border Security Force (BSF) along the International Border (IB) in 2020, was a testament to the bravery and determination of the Indian soldiers. The operation, which aimed to foil Pakistan’s attempts to infiltrate and disrupt peace along the border, was a monumental success, thanks to the unwavering spirit of the BSF personnel. In a recent interview, BSF’s Assistant Commandant Neha Bhandari, who commanded a forward post during the operation, shared her experiences and described the “Josh” (spirit) of the soldiers as being at an all-time high.
During Operation Sindoor, I was commanding a company deployed at the International Border. Our responsibility was to stop any infiltration, give a befitting reply to Pakistan, and keep the International Border safe, said Bhandari. The operation was a critical one, as it came at a time when tensions between India and Pakistan were running high. The BSF had received intelligence inputs about a large number of Pakistani terrorists attempting to infiltrate into Indian territory, and it was our job to prevent that from happening.
The day before the operation, our team received a briefing from our superiors, outlining the plan of action. We were told that we would be facing a well-trained and heavily armed enemy, and that we needed to be prepared for a tough battle. But despite the challenges ahead, the Josh of the soldiers was high. We knew that we had a crucial role to play in protecting our nation, and we were determined to do our job to the best of our abilities.
As the operation began, our team was deployed along the border, with orders to engage any enemy forces that attempted to cross into Indian territory. We had set up a network of sensors and surveillance systems to detect any movement, and our patrols were constantly on the move, scanning the area for any signs of enemy activity.
The first few hours were tense, as we waited for the enemy to make their move. But as the sun began to set, we started to receive reports of enemy movement. Our sensors had detected a large group of terrorists attempting to cross into Indian territory, and we knew that we had to act fast to stop them.
Under the leadership of our commanding officer, we quickly mobilized our forces and prepared to engage the enemy. The adrenaline was pumping, and the Josh of the soldiers was at an all-time high. We knew that this was a critical moment, and that our actions would determine the outcome of the operation.
As we moved forward, we encountered a group of terrorists who were attempting to cross into Indian territory. Our team quickly took up positions, and we began to engage the enemy. The battle was intense, with both sides exchanging fire. But despite being outnumbered, we held our ground, determined to protect our nation.
In the end, we emerged victorious, having successfully prevented the enemy from infiltrating into Indian territory. The operation was a testament to the bravery and skill of the BSF personnel, and it sent a strong message to Pakistan that India would not tolerate any attempts to disrupt peace along the border.
Looking back on the operation, Assistant Commandant Neha Bhandari believes that the Josh of the soldiers was a key factor in their success. “The spirit of the soldiers was high, and that gave us the motivation to perform to the best of our abilities,” she said. “We knew that we had a critical role to play in protecting our nation, and we were determined to do our job to the best of our abilities.”
The success of Operation Sindoor is a testament to the bravery and determination of the BSF personnel, and it serves as a reminder of the importance of the border security forces in protecting our nation. The Josh of the soldiers was high, and that is what made all the difference.
