
Cycle Marathon marks GST countdown in Mangaluru
As the eighth anniversary of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) approaches, the Mangalore GST Commissionerate joined forces with the FIT India Campaign to host an exhilarating cycle marathon on a sunny Sunday. The event, themed ‘GST: Simplifying Taxes; Empowering Citizens’, brought together fitness enthusiasts and taxpayers alike to celebrate the significance of GST in simplifying the tax landscape and empowering citizens.
The cycle marathon, which took place on a scenic route in Mangaluru, was flagged off by the Commissioner of Central GST, Mangalore Division, Mr. M. S. Rambhau, and witnessed the participation of over 200 cyclists. The event aimed to promote fitness, financial awareness, and GST literacy among the citizens of Mangaluru.
The marathon was a remarkable display of community spirit, as cyclists of all ages and skill levels came together to pedal their way through the city. The event also featured a series of informative stalls and kiosks set up by the GST Commissionerate, where participants could learn about the benefits of GST and its impact on the economy.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Rambhau emphasized the importance of GST in simplifying the tax regime and making it more citizen-friendly. “GST has brought about significant changes in the way taxes are collected and managed. It has also empowered citizens by giving them a greater say in the tax regime. We are committed to ensuring that GST continues to benefit the people of Mangaluru and the entire nation,” he said.
The Commissioner also highlighted the efforts of the GST Commissionerate in promoting GST awareness and literacy among taxpayers in Mangaluru. “We have been working tirelessly to educate taxpayers about the benefits and implications of GST. Our efforts have been focused on simplifying the tax regime and reducing the compliance burden on taxpayers. We are proud to say that our efforts have been successful in increasing GST compliance and reducing tax evasion in the region,” he added.
The FIT India Campaign, which is an initiative of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, was also a key partner in the cycle marathon. The campaign aims to promote fitness and wellness among Indians and to encourage them to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
