4-5 Militants Trapped, 2 Soldiers Injured in Kulgam Operation
The ongoing operation in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir has entered its third day, with security forces believing that “four to five militants are trapped” in the area, according to officials. The joint team of forces, comprising of Indian Army, Border Security Force (BSF), and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), cordoned off Akhal village after receiving information about militant presence in the area.
The operation, which began on Tuesday, has been ongoing since then, with intermittent firing reported between the security forces and the militants. According to reports, one militant has been killed in the exchange of fire, while two soldiers have been injured. The condition of the injured soldiers is reportedly stable, and they are being treated at a nearby hospital.
The operation was launched after intelligence agencies received information about the presence of militants in Akhal village. The joint team of forces was deployed to the area to neutralize the threat. The militants, believed to be from a local terror outfit, had reportedly been hiding in the village for some time.
The security forces had cordoned off the village, and a search operation was launched to track down the militants. The militants, however, refused to surrender and instead opened fire on the security forces. The ensuing exchange of fire resulted in the killing of one militant and the injury of two soldiers.
The operation is still ongoing, with the security forces trying to flush out the remaining militants from the area. The forces have been using drones and other advanced technology to gather intelligence and track down the militants.
The operation has led to a sense of unease in the area, with many locals reporting hearing gunshots and explosions throughout the day. The authorities have assured the locals that the operation is being carried out to ensure their safety and to neutralize the threat posed by the militants.
The recent operation in Kulgam comes at a time when security forces are facing a surge in militant activities in the region. In recent weeks, there have been several instances of militants attacking security forces, resulting in the killing of several soldiers and civilians.
The authorities have promised to take all necessary measures to ensure the safety and security of the people in the area. The operation will continue until the remaining militants are neutralized, and the area is declared safe.
