Mammootty asked me to drop KFPA case, cancelled our film: Sandra
The world of Malayalam cinema has been abuzz with controversy lately, with allegations and counter-allegations flying left and right. The latest development in this saga is the claim made by producer Sandra Thomas that megastar Mammootty asked her to withdraw a legal case she had filed against him, and also cancelled a film they had planned together.
In an exclusive interview with a leading newspaper, Sandra Thomas made some explosive revelations that have left fans and industry insiders stunned. According to her, Mammootty asked her to drop the case she had filed against him for disqualification from running for president and treasurer in the upcoming Kerala Film Producers’ Association (KFPA) elections.
Sandra Thomas had filed a petition against Mammootty, alleging that he was not eligible to contest the elections as he was not a registered member of the association. However, Mammootty had denied these allegations, claiming that he was a member in good standing.
But Sandra Thomas claims that Mammootty’s request came with a condition – she had to drop the case in exchange for a role in one of his upcoming films. When she refused, Mammootty allegedly cancelled the film project, leaving her in the lurch.
“I was taken aback by his demand,” Sandra Thomas said in the interview. “I couldn’t believe that someone of his stature would stoop so low. I was already committed to the project, and I had invested a lot of time and money in it. But when I refused to drop the case, he cancelled the project and didn’t even bother to inform me.”
Sandra Thomas also took a swipe at KFPA president Anto Joseph, calling him out for allegedly behaving like one of Mammootty’s “house-helps”. She claimed that Anto Joseph was more concerned with Mammootty’s interests than with the welfare of the producers’ association.
“It’s like Anto Joseph is working for Mammootty, not for the association,” Sandra Thomas said. “He’s more interested in protecting Mammootty’s interests than in doing what’s right for the producers. It’s a sad state of affairs when the president of an association behaves like this.”
Mammootty has not responded to Sandra Thomas’s allegations, but Anto Joseph has denied any wrongdoing. “I’m doing my job to the best of my abilities,” Anto Joseph said in a statement. “I won’t stoop to petty politics or indulge in personal attacks. The association is bigger than any individual, and I’ll ensure that it’s run fairly and transparently.”
This is not the first time that Sandra Thomas has been involved in a controversy. Last year, she was at the center of a storm when she accused KFPA member and film producer, Ousepachan Valakkuzhy, of sexually harassing her. The allegations were later dropped, but not before causing a stir in the industry.
It’s unclear what the fallout will be from Sandra Thomas’s latest allegations, but one thing is certain – the Malayalam film industry is in for a wild ride as the controversies continue to unfold.
