Hrithik & Jr NTR’s ‘War 2’ is all style, no ammo: News18
The much-awaited sequel to the 2019 blockbuster ‘War’ has finally hit the screens, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR in lead roles. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, ‘War 2’ promised to be an action-packed thrill ride, but unfortunately, it fails to deliver on its promise. News18’s Titas Chowdhury gave the film 2.5 stars, stating that it’s “all style and no ammo”.
In her review, Chowdhury notes that the film is ambitious, but its execution is where it falters. She writes, “It’s ambitious too and ambition is good, but it’s execution where the film falters.” The reviewer further adds that the story is thin, not lean in a sleek way, but hollow in the sense that it seems like there was no draft or script before the film was made.
The review highlights that the film’s biggest problem is its storyline, which is predictable and lacks depth. Chowdhury states that the narrative is filled with clichés and doesn’t offer anything new or exciting to the audience. She also criticizes the film’s pacing, saying that it’s slow and uneven, making it difficult to keep the audience engaged.
Despite the disappointing storyline, the reviewer does praise the performances of the lead actors, Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR. She writes, “Hrithik and Jr NTR bring fire to their performances, but even their best efforts can’t salvage the film’s lackluster plot.” The reviewer also commends the film’s cinematography, saying that the visuals are stunning and the action sequences are well-choreographed.
However, the film’s technical aspects are not enough to save it from its overall mediocrity. Chowdhury states that the music is forgettable and the editing is clumsy, which further adds to the film’s problems. She concludes her review by saying that ‘War 2’ is a disappointing follow-up to the original and that audiences may leave the theater feeling underwhelmed.
Review Verdict:
- Rating: 2.5 stars
- Pros: Ambitious, visually stunning, well-choreographed action sequences
- Cons: Predictable storyline, slow pacing, lackluster plot, forgettable music, clumsy editing
