Housefull 5 Gets U/A 16+ Rating, CBFC Censors Words & Cuts Visuals
The wait is almost over for the fans of the comedy franchise Housefull. The upcoming installment, Housefull 5, has finally received its certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). However, the journey to the screens wasn’t without its share of hurdles. The CBFC has granted the film a U/A 16+ rating, with certain modifications required by the filmmakers.
As per an exclusive report by Bollywood Hungama, the CBFC asked the makers to delete a dialogue that occurs at the 1 hour 53 minute mark. Additionally, certain words were asked to be replaced to adhere to the board’s guidelines. The report suggests that the filmmakers have been asked to modify the film to make it more suitable for the 16+ age group.
One of the most significant changes made by the CBFC was the reduction of “sensual visuals” in a particular scene. The scene, which was initially 4 seconds long, has been trimmed down to just 2 seconds. This change is likely to impact the overall tone and pace of the scene, which was presumably intended to be more provocative.
Furthermore, the CBFC has asked the filmmakers to edit a total of 11 seconds of footage from the film. While the exact portions of the film that were affected by these cuts are not specified, it is likely that they were deemed too explicit or offensive for a U/A 16+ rating.
The modifications made by the CBFC are not uncommon in the Indian film industry, where filmmakers often have to balance their creative vision with the need to adhere to the board’s guidelines. The U/A 16+ rating is considered to be a relatively liberal rating, but the CBFC still takes a strict stance on certain content, such as explicit violence, sexual content, and strong language.
The Housefull franchise has always been known for its over-the-top comedy and slapstick humor, as well as its item numbers and romantic tracks. It remains to be seen how the CBFC’s modifications will impact the final product, but it is likely that the filmmakers will make the necessary changes to ensure that the film is released without any further complications.
The Housefull franchise has been a staple of Indian comedy for over a decade, with each installment featuring a star-studded cast and a mix of humor, romance, and action. The series has spawned four successful films, including Housefull (2010), Housefull 2 (2012), Housefull 3 (2016), and Housefull 4 (2019).
The fifth installment of the franchise is expected to feature a similar blend of comedy and romance, with a new cast of characters and a fresh storyline. The film is directed by Farhad Samji, who has previously worked on films like Housefull 3 and Housefull 4. The cast of the film includes Akshay Kumar, Kriti Sanon, Kriti Kharbanda, and Bobby Deol, among others.
Given the modifications required by the CBFC, it remains to be seen how the film’s comedy and romance will be affected. However, with a star-studded cast and a tried-and-tested formula, Housefull 5 is likely to be a hit with audiences regardless of the changes made to the film.
