Shubhanshu Not from Any Party: Govt on Opp’n Boycotting Discussion
The Lok Sabha witnessed a heated exchange of words between the ruling party and the opposition on Thursday, as the government criticized the opposition for boycotting a discussion on astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla. Union Minister Jitendra Singh took to the floor to express his surprise and disappointment at the opposition’s decision to boycott the discussion, questioning their motivations and motives.
The opposition parties, including the Congress, TMC, and Left parties, had decided to boycott the discussion on Shubhanshu Shukla, citing a lack of transparency and secrecy surrounding the astronaut’s selection process. However, the government rejected these allegations, saying that the selection process was fair and transparent.
Union Minister Jitendra Singh, speaking on behalf of the government, slammed the opposition for their decision to boycott the discussion. “Opposition’s anger can be with the government, but it’s surprising that you can be angry with an astronaut,” he said. “Shubhanshu does not belong to any political party…You are angry with the earth and today you seem to be angry with space as well.”
Singh’s remarks were in response to the opposition’s allegations that the government had not provided adequate information about Shubhanshu’s selection process and training. The opposition parties had also questioned the government’s decision to send Shubhanshu to space without consulting with them.
However, the government refuted these allegations, saying that the selection process was fair and transparent. “The selection process was done by a committee comprising experts from various fields, and Shubhanshu was chosen based on his merit and qualifications,” said Singh. “There was no political interference in the selection process, and we are proud to have an astronaut like Shubhanshu representing our country in space.”
The government also pointed out that Shubhanshu’s achievement was a significant milestone for the country’s space program, and the opposition’s boycott was unwarranted. “Shubhanshu’s achievement is not just a personal achievement, but a national achievement,” said Singh. “We should be proud of our astronaut and should not try to politicize his achievement.”
The opposition parties, however, remained firm in their decision to boycott the discussion. “We are not against Shubhanshu or his achievement, but we are against the government’s secrecy and lack of transparency,” said a senior Congress leader. “The government should come clean on the selection process and training of Shubhanshu, and we will support the discussion once our concerns are addressed.”
The boycott has sparked a heated debate within the country, with many questioning the motives of the opposition parties. While some have argued that the opposition is justified in demanding transparency and accountability, others have criticized the boycott as an attempt to undermine the government’s achievements.
As the debate continues, one thing is clear – Shubhanshu Shukla’s achievement has brought attention to India’s space program and its capabilities. Whether the opposition’s boycott will impact the discussion on Shubhanshu remains to be seen, but one thing is certain – the country is proud of its astronaut and his achievement in space.
