Hrithik & Jr NTR’s ‘War 2’ is all style, no ammo: News18
The much-awaited spy thriller ‘War 2’ has finally hit the screens, starring two of the biggest stars in Bollywood – Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR. The film, directed by Siddharth Anand, is the sequel to the 2019 blockbuster ‘War’, which saw Hrithik and Tiger Shroff engage in an intense cat-and-mouse game. This time around, Jr NTR joins the fray, but unfortunately, the film’s execution leaves much to be desired.
News18’s Titas Chowdhury gave the film 2.5 stars and stated that ‘War 2’ is “all style and no ammo”. In his review, Chowdhury wrote, “It’s ambitious too and ambition is good but it’s execution where the film falters.” He further added, “The story is thin, not lean in a sleek way, but hollow in a ‘was there a draft two?'”
The film’s plot revolves around Arjun (Hrithik Roshan), a highly skilled spy who is on a mission to take down a powerful organization. Jr NTR plays the role of a Pakistani spy, who is tasked with eliminating Arjun. The two engage in a series of high-octane action sequences, but the film’s story is marred by a lack of depth and coherence.
Chowdhury’s review highlights the film’s biggest drawback – its weak storyline. He writes, “The story is predictable and relies heavily on clichés. The twists and turns are few and far between, and even the most die-hard action fans will find themselves yawning.”
Despite the weak storyline, the film’s action sequences are undoubtedly its strongest aspect. Hrithik and Jr NTR bring their A-game, delivering some truly breathtaking stunts. Chowdhury praises their performances, saying, “Hrithik and Jr NTR bring fire to the screen, but even their best efforts can’t salvage the film’s lackluster story.”
The film’s direction is also a major letdown. Siddharth Anand, who directed the first ‘War’ film, seems to have lost his touch this time around. The film’s pacing is slow and plodding, with long stretches of dull exposition that fail to engage the audience.
In conclusion, ‘War 2’ is a disappointing sequel that fails to live up to the expectations set by its predecessor. Despite the strong performances from its lead actors, the film’s weak storyline and poor direction make it a chore to sit through.
