Hrithik & Jr NTR’s ‘War 2’ is all style, no ammo
The much-awaited spy thriller, ‘War 2’, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, has finally hit the screens. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, the film was expected to be an action-packed treat for fans. However, according to News18’s Titas Chowdhury, the film falls short of expectations and is “all style and no ammo”.
Chowdhury gave the film 2.5 stars, stating that while the film is ambitious, its execution is where it falters. The reviewer noted that the story is thin, lacking depth and substance. Instead of being lean and sleek, the plot is “hollow” and seems to be missing a draft.
The reviewer praised the performances of the lead actors, saying that Hrithik and Jr NTR bring their A-game to the film. However, even their impressive action sequences and intense performances couldn’t save the film from its shortcomings.
“It’s ambitious too and ambition is good, but it’s execution where the film falters,” Chowdhury wrote. “The story is thin, not lean in sleek way, but hollow in a ‘was there a draft two?’ kind of way. The film’s biggest problem is that it tries to be too much and ends up being less than the sum of its parts.”
The review also criticized the film’s pacing, saying that it drags at times and fails to maintain momentum. The action sequences, while impressive, are not enough to save the film from its overall lack of substance.
“While the action scenes are well-choreographed and the stunts are impressive, they can’t compensate for the lack of a compelling story,” Chowdhury wrote. “The film’s attempts to be a spy thriller are admirable, but it’s a genre that requires a tighter script and better execution. Unfortunately, ‘War 2’ falls short in both departments.”
Despite the negative review, fans of the lead actors are still excited to see the film. Hrithik and Jr NTR have a massive following, and their fans are eagerly waiting to see them on the big screen together.
‘War 2’ has been in the making for several years, with the film’s production being delayed multiple times. The film’s budget is estimated to be around Rs 500 crore, making it one of the most expensive films in Bollywood history.
In conclusion, while ‘War 2’ may have its moments, it’s ultimately a disappointing film that fails to live up to its promise. With a thin plot, poor pacing, and lack of substance, the film is “all style and no ammo”. Fans may still want to check it out for the impressive action sequences and performances of the lead actors, but overall, the film is a letdown.
