Hrithik & Jr NTR’s ‘War 2’ is all style, no ammo: News18
The much-anticipated spy thriller ‘War 2’, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, has finally hit the screens. The film, directed by Ayan Mukerji, promises to be an action-packed ride, but unfortunately, it fails to deliver on its promise. News18’s Titas Chowdhury gave the film 2.5 stars, stating that it is “all style and no ammo”.
In his review, Chowdhury praises the film’s ambition, saying that it’s “good” to have a film that sets out to achieve something big. However, he notes that the execution is where the film falters. The story, he says, is “thin, not lean in a sleek way, but hollow in a ‘was there a draft two?’ kind of way”. This means that the plot lacks substance and fails to engage the audience.
One of the main problems with ‘War 2’ is its lack of a compelling narrative. The story is predictable and lacks any real surprises or twists. The characters, too, are underdeveloped and lack any real depth or complexity. Chowdhury notes that the actors try their best to bring some fire to their roles, but even their performances can’t save the film from its overall mediocrity.
The action scenes, which are usually a highlight of spy thrillers, are few and far between in ‘War 2’. When they do arrive, they are overly reliant on CGI and lack any real tension or excitement. The stunts are impressive, but they feel like they’re just going through the motions rather than being genuinely thrilling.
Despite its many flaws, ‘War 2’ does have some stylish moments. The cinematography is sleek and modern, and the production design is impressive. The film’s score, too, is catchy and helps to elevate some of the more mundane scenes.
Overall, ‘War 2’ feels like a missed opportunity. With its talented cast and impressive production values, it could have been a really exciting and thrilling spy thriller. Instead, it’s just a disappointing and uninspired film that fails to deliver on its promise.
