10 Break-ins Rattle Udupi in July, Most Suspects Still at Large
The month of July 2025 has seen a surge in home break-ins in Udupi district, leaving residents on edge and the police scrambling to catch the culprits. According to the latest reports, a total of 10 incidents of theft or attempted robbery have been recorded in the district, with most suspects still at large.
From July 1 to 26, eight break-ins occurred under Udupi Town Police limits, with one case each registered in Hiriadka and Byndoor. The police have managed to apprehend four individuals in connection with the incidents, but many more are still unidentified and absconding.
The break-ins have caused widespread concern among residents, who are now taking extra precautions to secure their homes and properties. Many have also been compelled to question the effectiveness of the police’s crime prevention measures.
The first break-in was reported on July 1, when a house in Udupi Town was burgled and valuables worth lakhs of rupees were stolen. Since then, the police have received a steady stream of complaints about similar incidents, with the majority occurring in the early hours of the morning or late at night.
The modus operandi of the thieves appears to be consistent, with the police reporting that the burglars are targeting homes that are left unoccupied or have lax security measures in place. In many cases, the thieves have used duplicate keys or picked locks to gain entry into the properties.
The police have launched a massive investigation into the incidents, with officers from the Udupi Town Police and other districts working together to track down the suspects. The police have also been conducting raids and searches to recover stolen property and apprehend the culprits.
Despite the efforts of the police, many residents are still worried about the safety of their homes and properties. “I am very concerned about the break-ins,” said Ramesh, a resident of Udupi Town. “I have taken extra precautions to secure my home, but I still feel vulnerable. The police need to do more to prevent these crimes and catch the culprits.”
The police have promised to increase the number of patrols in the area and to work closely with residents to prevent further break-ins. “We are taking the break-ins very seriously and are doing everything in our power to prevent them,” said a police officer. “We urge residents to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to the police immediately.”
The police have also been working to identify and apprehend the suspects, and have released several sketches and descriptions of the individuals involved. The public has been asked to come forward with any information that may help the police in their investigation.
As the search for the break-in suspects continues, residents are being advised to take extra precautions to secure their homes and properties. This includes installing security cameras, locking all doors and windows, and keeping valuables out of sight.
In the meantime, the police are working to build a stronger relationship with the community and to prevent further break-ins. “We are committed to keeping our community safe,” said a police officer. “We urge residents to work with us to prevent these crimes and to report any suspicious activity to the police immediately.”
