Woman Accuses Bouncers of Attack at Bar in Bengaluru
A recent incident at a popular bar in Bengaluru has left everyone shocked and outraged. A 21-year-old woman has alleged that bouncers at JustBLR Resto Bar on Brigade Road assaulted her and two male friends during a visit on July 14. The incident has sparked widespread condemnation, and the authorities have taken swift action, arresting two bouncers and releasing them on station bail.
According to the woman, she and her friends had gone to the bar to celebrate her friend’s birthday. However, things took a turn for the worse when they tried to leave the bar around 1:30 am. The bouncers allegedly became aggressive and started harassing them, demanding that they pay an extra charge for the music and services provided.
The woman claims that when they refused to pay, the bouncers became physical, assaulting them with sticks and kicking them. She alleged that the bouncers also damaged their belongings, including their phones and watches. The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras, which has further strengthened her complaint.
Based on the woman’s complaint, Cubbon Park police arrested two bouncers—Hriday Debnath (25) from West Tripura and Dipen Khatri (24) from Nepal. Both were released on station bail the same day. The police have also seized the CCTV footage as evidence and are investigating the matter further.
The woman’s friends have also come forward to corroborate her version of events. They have alleged that the bouncers were extremely aggressive and used abusive language. They also claimed that the management of the bar was unresponsive to their complaints and did not take any action to stop the bouncers from assaulting them.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage on social media, with many people calling for action against the bouncers and the bar management. The police have assured that they are taking the matter seriously and are conducting a thorough investigation.
In a statement, the police said, “We take allegations of assault and harassment very seriously. We are investigating the matter and will take appropriate action against those found guilty.”
The woman has also spoken out about the incident, saying, “I was scared and helpless during the entire ordeal. I never thought that something like this could happen in a crowded place like a bar. I just want justice and for the bouncers to be punished for their actions.”
The incident has raised questions about the safety and security of women in public places, particularly in areas known for their nightlife. It is crucial that bars and restaurants take steps to ensure that their patrons feel safe and secure, and that they have a system in place to deal with incidents of harassment and assault.
The Bengaluru police have a reputation for being proactive and responsive to complaints, and it is hoped that they will conduct a thorough and fair investigation into the matter. The bouncers and the bar management must be held accountable for their actions, and the woman and her friends must be compensated for their injuries and losses.
As the investigation continues, it is essential that the public remains vigilant and holds those responsible accountable. No one deserves to be assaulted or harassed, and it is the responsibility of all of us to ensure that our city is a safe and welcoming place for everyone.
