For the First Time, Centre, State & MCD Have a Common Goal: Delhi CM
In a surprising turn of events, the Delhi Chief Minister, Rekha Gupta, has expressed optimism about the current political scenario in the national capital. Speaking to the press, CM Gupta revealed that for the first time, the Centre, State, and Municipal Corporation (MCD) are working together towards a common goal.
Gupta’s comments come as a refreshing change from the usual political bickering and infighting that has plagued Delhi in the past. In the past, governments have been more focused on fighting each other, rather than working together to address the pressing issues facing the city.
According to the Delhi CM, this change in attitude is a welcome development. “For the first time, there’s a positive vibe where the Centre, State and municipal corporation are working together with a common goal,” Gupta said. This sentiment was echoed by the Chief Minister’s office, which stated that the new government is committed to working collaboratively with all stakeholders to address the city’s pressing issues.
So, what prompted this sudden shift in attitude? Gupta attributed it to the realisation that Delhi’s growth and development are closely tied to the success of the Centre and State governments. “People have realised that Delhi won’t grow until there’s a double-engine government,” she said. The “double-engine” government refers to the BJP’s government at the Centre and the AAP government in Delhi.
Gupta’s comments are significant, as they come at a time when Delhi is facing numerous challenges, including pollution, traffic congestion, and infrastructure development. The city’s residents have been facing severe pollution issues, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) regularly exceeding hazardous levels.
To address this issue, the Delhi government has launched several initiatives, including the development of a comprehensive plan to reduce pollution in the city. The plan includes measures such as increasing the use of public transport, promoting cycling, and improving waste management.
The Centre has also stepped in to support the Delhi government’s efforts. Recently, the Union Environment Ministry announced a slew of measures to reduce pollution in the city, including the implementation of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP).
The MCD, which has historically been a major stumbling block for the Delhi government, has also shown signs of cooperation. The corporation has agreed to work with the Delhi government to develop a comprehensive plan to address the city’s waste management crisis.
Gupta’s optimism about the current political scenario is shared by many in Delhi. Rakesh Kumar, a local resident, said, “I think the Centre, State, and MCD are finally working together for the betterment of Delhi. It’s a welcome change, and I hope it continues.”
Not everyone is convinced, however. Opposition parties have criticized the Delhi government for its failure to address the city’s pressing issues. AAP leader, Kejriwal, has been vocal about the Centre’s failure to provide adequate funding to the Delhi government, which he claims has hindered the city’s development.
Despite these differences, there is a growing sense of optimism about the future of Delhi. With the Centre, State, and MCD working together, there is hope that the city’s many challenges can be addressed.
As the Delhi CM said, “For the first time, there’s a positive vibe where the Centre, State and municipal corporation are working together with a common goal.” This change in attitude is a welcome development, and it remains to be seen whether it will lead to meaningful change in the city.
