In a remarkable move towards strengthening Delhi’s ICT (Information and Communication Technology) ecosystem, a delegation from PCAIT (Progressive Channels Association of Information Technology), led by its President, Alok Gupta, met Delhi CM, Rekha Gupta, on July 3, 2025. The meeting aimed to discuss a joint roadmap for the growth of ICT in the city and revamp plans for Nehru Place, one of Delhi’s most prominent IT hubs.
The PCAIT delegation, comprising industry leaders and experts, highlighted the significant contribution of the ICT sector to Delhi’s economy. They emphasized the need for continued support and collaboration between the government and the industry to ensure sustainable growth and development of the sector. The delegation also brought to the attention of the CM the importance of revitalizing Nehru Place, which has been a hub for IT and ITES industries for decades.
Nehru Place, located in the heart of Delhi, has been a major hub for IT and ITES industries, with numerous small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) operating in the area. However, over the years, the area has faced several challenges, including congestion, lack of infrastructure, and environmental concerns. PCAIT has been advocating for the revitalization of Nehru Place to make it a more attractive and sustainable destination for businesses.
During the meeting, PCAIT requested the CM to declare Nehru Place as a Zero Plastic Zone. The association emphasized the need for a plastic-free environment and the importance of sustainable practices. The CM appreciated the initiative and assured PCAIT that the government would consider their request.
The CM also highlighted the importance of collaboration between the government and the industry to address the challenges faced by the ICT sector. She emphasized the need for a joint effort to develop a comprehensive roadmap for the growth of ICT in Delhi, which would include initiatives to promote entrepreneurship, innovation, and skill development.
The PCAIT delegation also discussed various other issues related to the ICT sector, including the need for improved infrastructure, regulatory reforms, and ease of doing business. The delegation emphasized the importance of these factors in attracting investments and driving growth in the sector.
The meeting was a significant step towards strengthening the partnership between PCAIT and the Delhi government. PCAIT has been a leading industry association in Delhi, working closely with the government to promote the growth of the ICT sector. The association has been instrumental in organizing various events and initiatives to promote entrepreneurship, innovation, and skill development in the sector.
The PCAIT delegation was appreciative of the CM’s willingness to listen to the industry’s concerns and her commitment to promoting the growth of the ICT sector in Delhi. The association believes that the meeting will lead to a more collaborative and supportive environment for the industry, which will ultimately benefit the citizens of Delhi.
In conclusion, the meeting between PCAIT and the Delhi CM was a significant step towards strengthening the ICT ecosystem in Delhi and revitalizing Nehru Place. The association’s efforts to promote sustainable practices and reduce plastic waste in the area are commendable, and the CM’s commitment to supporting the industry is a welcome move. As the ICT sector continues to grow and evolve, it is essential for the government and industry to work together to address the challenges facing the sector and promote its growth.
