
PCAIT, Delhi CM Discuss ICT Growth & Nehru Place Revamp Plan
In a remarkable move towards strengthening Delhi’s ICT (Information and Communication Technology) ecosystem, a delegation from PCAIT (Progressive Channels Association of Information Technology), led by its President, Alok Gupta, met Delhi CM, Rekha Gupta, on July 3, 2025. The meeting aimed to explore ways to boost the growth of ICT sector in the national capital and revamp Nehru Place, a prominent IT hub in Delhi.
The PCAIT delegation, comprising of prominent industry leaders and members, emphasized the need for a collaborative approach between the government and industry stakeholders to drive growth in the ICT sector. They highlighted the sector’s immense potential to create employment opportunities, stimulate economic growth, and enhance the city’s global competitiveness.
During the meeting, PCAIT presented its vision for the ICT sector’s growth in Delhi, which includes promoting startups, encouraging innovation, and fostering a favorable business environment. The delegation also requested the Delhi government to provide necessary support and infrastructure to enable the growth of the sector.
One of the key focus areas of the meeting was the revamp plan for Nehru Place, a historic IT hub that has been facing infrastructure and maintenance issues. The PCAIT delegation requested the Delhi government to declare Nehru Place as a Zero Plastic Zone, aiming to reduce the amount of plastic waste generated in the area. This initiative is expected to not only address environmental concerns but also enhance the overall aesthetic appeal of the area.
The Delhi CM, Rekha Gupta, appreciated the PCAIT delegation’s efforts and stressed the importance of collaboration between the government and industry stakeholders to drive growth in the ICT sector. She assured the delegation that the Delhi government is committed to providing a favorable business environment and necessary infrastructure to support the growth of the sector.
“We are committed to making Delhi a hub for IT and ITES companies. We will work closely with PCAIT and other industry stakeholders to identify the challenges and provide necessary support to overcome them,” said Rekha Gupta, Delhi CM.
The meeting concluded with a joint roadmap being drafted to boost the growth of the ICT sector in Delhi and revamp Nehru Place. The roadmap includes a range of initiatives, such as providing tax incentives, setting up incubators and accelerators, and enhancing the city’s digital infrastructure.
