
PCAIT, Delhi CM Discuss ICT Growth & Nehru Place Revamp Plan
In a significant step towards fostering Delhi’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) ecosystem, a delegation from the Progressive Channels Association of Information Technology (PCAIT), led by its President, Alok Gupta, met Delhi Chief Minister, Rekha Gupta, on July 3, 2025. The meeting aimed to discuss a joint roadmap for ICT growth and revamping Nehru Place, a hub for IT and electronics in the city.
The PCAIT delegation highlighted the importance of revitalizing Nehru Place, which has been a hub for IT and electronics in Delhi since the 1970s. The association emphasized the need for a comprehensive revamp plan to transform Nehru Place into a modern and sustainable IT destination. The delegation also requested the Delhi government to declare Nehru Place as a Zero Plastic Zone, aiming to reduce plastic waste and promote eco-friendly practices in the area.
Nehru Place, which has been the hub for IT and electronics in Delhi since the 1970s, has been facing challenges in recent years. The area has seen a decline in footfall and sales, mainly due to the shift of businesses to other locations and poor infrastructure. To address these issues, PCAIT has been advocating for a comprehensive revamp plan that would enhance the infrastructure, improve the aesthetic appeal, and provide a modern and sustainable IT destination.
During the meeting, the PCAIT delegation presented a detailed plan for the revamp of Nehru Place, which includes the installation of modern amenities, improved parking facilities, and enhanced security measures. The delegation also requested the Delhi government to provide support for the development of a startup ecosystem in Nehru Place, which would create job opportunities and attract new businesses to the area.
The Delhi Chief Minister, Rekha Gupta, appreciated the PCAIT delegation’s efforts to revitalize Nehru Place and discussed the possibility of collaborating with the association to achieve the shared goals. The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of promoting Delhi as a hub for IT and electronics and committed to working with PCAIT to develop a comprehensive plan for the growth of the ICT sector in the city.
