
PCAIT, Delhi CM Discuss ICT Growth & Nehru Place Revamp Plan
On July 3, 2025, a delegation from the Progressive Channels Association of Information Technology (PCAIT), led by its President, Alok Gupta, met with Delhi Chief Minister, Rekha Gupta, to discuss a joint roadmap for the growth of Delhi’s ICT (Information and Communication Technology) ecosystem and revamp plans for Nehru Place, a prominent hub for the IT industry in the city.
The meeting was a significant step towards strengthening Delhi’s ICT ecosystem, which is a vital driver of the city’s economic growth. The PCAIT delegation highlighted the need for revitalization of Nehru Place, which has been facing challenges in recent years, such as inadequate infrastructure, traffic congestion, and a lack of modern amenities.
During the meeting, the PCAIT delegation requested the Delhi government to declare Nehru Place as a Zero Plastic Zone, which would help in maintaining a cleaner and healthier environment for the IT professionals and visitors who frequent the area. They also emphasized the need for a comprehensive revamp plan for Nehru Place, which would include upgrading the infrastructure, improving connectivity, and introducing modern amenities such as Wi-Fi, food courts, and recreational facilities.
The Delhi Chief Minister, Rekha Gupta, appreciated the PCAIT delegation’s suggestions and assured them that the government is committed to supporting the growth of the IT industry in Delhi. She promised to consider the PCAIT’s requests for revitalizing Nehru Place and making it a Zero Plastic Zone.
The meeting also discussed the need for a joint roadmap for the growth of the ICT industry in Delhi. The PCAIT delegation suggested that the government and the industry should work together to develop a comprehensive strategy that would promote the growth of the ICT sector, create new jobs, and increase the city’s competitiveness.
The Delhi Chief Minister agreed with the PCAIT’s suggestions and emphasized the need for a collaborative approach to achieve the goals of the ICT industry. She suggested that the government and the industry should work together to identify areas of mutual interest and develop strategies to address the challenges faced by the industry.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Delhi government, including the Chief Secretary, the Principal Secretary (Information Technology), and the Chairman of the Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation (DTTDC).
