In a remarkable move towards strengthening Delhi’s ICT (Information and Communication Technology) ecosystem, a delegation from PCAIT (Progressive Channels Association of Information Technology), led by its President, Alok Gupta, met Delhi Chief Minister, Rekha Gupta, on July 3, 2025. The meeting aimed to discuss a joint roadmap for the growth of ICT in the national capital and revamp plans for Nehru Place, one of Delhi’s most prominent IT hubs.
The PCAIT delegation highlighted the importance of ICT in driving the country’s economic growth and its role in bridging the digital divide. They emphasized the need for a collaborative effort between the government and the industry to create a conducive environment for entrepreneurship, innovation, and job creation.
The delegation also requested the Delhi government to declare Nehru Place as a Zero Plastic Zone, which would help in maintaining the area’s green and clean environment. The attendees discussed various initiatives and policies that the government could implement to promote the growth of ICT in Delhi.
Some of the key initiatives discussed during the meeting included:
- Setting up of a special task force to address the issues faced by IT companies in Nehru Place and other IT hubs in Delhi.
- Providing incentives to IT companies to encourage them to set up their operations in Delhi.
- Developing a comprehensive plan for the revamp of Nehru Place, including the creation of green spaces, pedestrianized zones, and improved public facilities.
- Implementing measures to reduce traffic congestion in the area, such as the creation of dedicated lanes for IT professionals and the introduction of electric vehicles.
- Providing training and skill development programs for IT professionals to enhance their employability and competitiveness.
The meeting concluded with a sense of optimism and a shared commitment to work towards creating a thriving ICT ecosystem in Delhi. The PCAIT delegation expressed its gratitude to the Delhi CM and her team for their support and cooperation.
In a statement, Alok Gupta, President, PCAIT, said, “We are thrilled to have had the opportunity to discuss our vision for the growth of ICT in Delhi with the Chief Minister. We believe that our partnership will lead to significant benefits for the industry, the city, and the country as a whole.”

As the ICT industry continues to evolve and grow, it is essential for the government and the industry to work together to create a conducive environment that supports innovation, entrepreneurship, and job creation.
