
Maruti, Hyundai & Tata sales fall, Mahindra & Toyota gain in June
The Indian auto industry has been witnessing a decline in sales for some time now, and the trend continued in June as well. Hyundai Motor India also recorded a decline in domestic dispatches, with a YoY drop of 12% to 43,000 units. The company’s overall sales, including exports, stood at 54,000 units, down 10% YoY.
Tata Motors was the third major automaker to post a decline in passenger vehicle sales, with a YoY drop of 15% to 26,044 units. However, the company’s overall sales, including commercial vehicles and exports, stood at 1,02,454 units, up 4% YoY.
On the other hand, Mahindra & Mahindra saw a significant increase in utility vehicle sales, with a YoY growth of 18% to 24,445 units. The company’s overall sales, including commercial vehicles and exports, stood at 43,445 units, up 10% YoY.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor was the only other major automaker to post a positive growth in sales, with a YoY increase of 5% to 12,138 units. The company’s overall sales, including exports, stood at 13,444 units, up 5% YoY.
