Big B & Sanjay didn’t shoot together in ‘Shootout…’: Director
Apoorva Lakhia, the director of the 2007 Bollywood film ‘Shootout at Lokhandwala’, has shared an interesting anecdote from the sets of the movie. In an interview, Lakhia revealed that two of the most iconic actors of Bollywood, Amitabh Bachchan and Sanjay Dutt, didn’t even share a scene together during the making of the film.
The film, which was based on the real-life shootout that took place at Lokhandwala complex in 1991, starred Sanjay Dutt in the lead role alongside Suniel Shetty, Arshad Warsi, and Tina Ambani. The movie was a commercial success and received positive reviews from critics. However, what’s surprising is that Bachchan, who played the role of ACP Israni, and Dutt, who played the role of Maya Dolas, never shared a scene together.
“Amit ji comes at 2 pm, Sanjay comes at 6 pm. Amit ji leaves at 5:30 pm and Sanjay comes to set after finishing his lunch at 5:30 pm,” Lakhia revealed in an interview. This means that Bachchan and Dutt never crossed paths on the sets, let alone shot a scene together.
Lakhia’s revelation has left many fans and film enthusiasts surprised and intrigued. The two actors are known for their illustrious careers and numerous iconic roles, and it’s hard to imagine that they didn’t even meet on the sets of ‘Shootout at Lokhandwala’.
Bachchan, who has been active in the film industry for over five decades, has been a part of many iconic films, including ‘Sholay’, ‘Deewar’, and ‘Black’. Dutt, on the other hand, has been a part of many successful films, including ‘Munna Bhai MBBS’, ‘Dil’, and ‘Khalnayak’. Both actors have won numerous awards and accolades for their performances.
Despite not sharing a scene together, ‘Shootout at Lokhandwala’ was a significant film for both Bachchan and Dutt. It marked Bachchan’s comeback to the big screen after a brief hiatus, while Dutt’s performance as Maya Dolas was widely praised by critics.
Lakhia’s experience of directing the two actors on the sets of ‘Shootout at Lokhandwala’ was also unique. In his interview, he revealed that Bachchan was a perfectionist and would often rehearse his lines multiple times before filming a scene. Dutt, on the other hand, was more laid-back and would often improvise his dialogues on the sets.
Despite their different working styles, Lakhia praised both actors for their professionalism and dedication to their craft. “Both Amit ji and Sanjay are legends in their own right. They bring a certain level of discipline and dedication to their work that is hard to find in today’s actors,” he said.
‘Shootout at Lokhandwala’ may be a film that many people have forgotten about, but Lakhia’s anecdote about Bachchan and Dutt not sharing a scene together has brought back memories of the film’s making. It’s a reminder of the unique experiences that filmmakers have on the sets of their movies, and the importance of teamwork and professionalism in bringing a project to life.
